j.chavez (they/them) is a playwright from Seattle, Washington. Graduate with a BA in Theatre from Western Washington University, concentrated in Directing, Dramatic Writing, and Education. A current Teaching Artist at Seattle Children’s Theatre, they teach playwriting, devising, sketch comedy, among a slew of other theatrical classes for all ages.
j.chavez is the founder and artistic director of Haus of Hazard Theatre Productions which does free theatre in the PNW . j.chavez is the recipient of The KCACTF National Undergraduate Playwriting Award 2020 and the David Mark Cohen National Award in 2021 for their play "how to clean your room (and remember all your trauma)" which was workshopped at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts as part of the Undergraduate Playwriting Workshop 2019
