I am in love with everything Michael Pisaturo writes, and this is another ten-minute of his I am over the moon for! Tragic, smart, surprising, maybe even a little bit funny. And, of course, Pisaturo has his obvious knack for perfectly realistic dialogue. Way to knock it out of the park again, good man!

Scott Sickles does it again, packing a wallop in only ten minutes! This is something painful, heartbreaking, and utterly real: a thorough and complex look at not just coming out, but the huge impacts both the oppressor and the repressed have on each other. I relate to Boyd strongly, which is only one of the reasons why "The Bedroom Summit" was a painful, yet illuminating, read. Dangerous, challenging, and necessary theatre that demands to be seen and read!

    Adorable. Just adorable.
  • The Dark

A terrific comedy about adolescence (with an air of creepiness from the get-go) that slowly turns into sheer horror! By thrusting her characters into pitch black with only a flashlight to accompany them, Berman achieves maximum suspense knowing what you don't see is just as frightening as what you do see. Must see this performed!
  • Sex Friends

"Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice" meets "American Pie"! A hilariously farcical sex romp that humors as much as it does due to the all-too-familiar awkwardness and sweetness of its characters. The more uncertain the characters get, the bigger the laughs. Serena Berman has a fun one here, and I would love to see this performed!
  • That Moment When ...

A gem of a ten-minute and so much more than your standard gay meet-cute. By having the stage directions be the dialogue and having the actors playing Paul and Con not truly speak to each other until the end, it allows them to do much more mental work on what the characters are feeling as contact is being made between them. It's fast-paced and exciting, with high stakes, humor, and just the right amount of sweetness.
  • PARTNER OF —
    9 Sep. 2019
I'm stunned! This is an eerie, crucial, political ten-minute play about a piece of history we don't tend to acknowledge as much. With her vivid, rich stage directions and dialogue, Rachael Carnes thrusts us into the plight Sally Hemmings experienced being made to accompany Thomas Jefferson with ease at the beginning, and then with frightening force. "Partner Of" is necessary theatre.

One of the most heartfelt, wise, and moving 10-minutes I've read on NPX, and also carrying a uniquely original premise at that. We always look back on our younger years and wonder what we would have said to that version of ourselves, and Steven G. Martin rises to the occasion with his characters, who are three different versions of one man. "153" is memorable, smart, and important.
  • The Morning After The Fall

Clever, sassy, and funny from beginning to end! Filled with echoes of Paul Rudnick and other great LGBT comedy writers, John Bavoso's nifty comedic voice lends itself nicely to this hilarious take on the classic Bible tale. Read it (better yet, PRODUCE it) and laugh out loud!

A short, lovely meditation on familial loss. Ari's closing monologue hits home. Nice job, Zack Peercy!
