  • Nora Louise Syran: The Turning of The Seasons

This is a reassuring dialogue between a grandfather and his granddaughter about the presence of a departed loved one in nature. Its emotional depth, simplicity, and connection to characters make this play memorable and heartwarming.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Boogie Man

The stuff of nightmares...in the best way possible (!?) Chilling.

  • Nora Louise Syran: The Unexpected Delight of Snowbirds

This sweet Christmas play is a lovely balance between the Elf-like antics of "does somebody want a hug" (my vision of next year's Christmas with these two crazy "kids" in the park trying to catch a raccoon) and a beautifully subtle allusion to The Twelve Days of Christmas's "Two Turtle Doves" and the love (and other things...) filling Whiskers G. Harding's cat carrier. A short play for two mature (?!) actors. Love it.

  • Nora Louise Syran: The Mother Load

A choose your own adventure in Ancient Greco-meets-Roman-Gladiator style! I had a fun time reading this and picturing the physicality of the piece. Great fun for lighting and sound designers, too.

  • Nora Louise Syran: White Cotton, Black Light

Beware black light and what it might reveal on your white cotton sheets! Two men, as opposite as you can get, find one another in this sweet, sexy (and sweaty!) short play.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Beldam & Gaffer

It would be tempting and too easy to make light of, trivialize and stereotype a sensitive topic: the forgetfulness (and too often outright dementia) that accompanies the very real process of aging. I love how Soltero-Brown does not shy away from truth and delivers two very real characters which two actors would be privileged to bring to life on stage. Bravo.

  • Nora Louise Syran: I Don't DO Holidays

Disturbingly charming. I can totally relate to Veruth. In Prillaman's hands, even Saints aren't safe when they insist on associating themselves with pointless holidays.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Places

A great short piece for teenagers. They and the audience will have a blast following the twists and turns of this meta-spectacular scene in a lunch room, or is it? I love how Martineau captures the teenage angst and serves it up as theatre.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Look Away

Lovely work. As a lover of history, this play spoke to me as it will to many; especially with its message of enduring hope at the end. Norkin exposes a very grave wrong that was made and shows the steps that were taken to repair it, but above all brings awareness to the ongoing world-wide scourge that is antisemitism. The balance of voices, the message, the possibilities for staging all make it a piece perfect for schools and communities to get behind and produce. Bravo.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Live, Laugh, Lobotomize

Floyd-Priskorn takes you on a magical ride to a shopping district in The Darkness and back again. Wacky and wonderful. "Say more words" Jacquie, say more words!!! I'd love to meet these two fantastical creatures again because we all need someone to "bring out the shoe salesman part" of ourselves from time to time. Brava!
