  • Nora Louise Syran: Waitering for Godot

Bonafede reveals what is happening behind the scenes of Vladimir and Estragon"s waiting for a Godot more interested in his coffee and himself than anyone else, and a waiter waiting on a table for yet another party waiting... it's endless. Super.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Save Some Room

"Are there any normal guys left in this fricking city?" This piece will have you howling, wondering where it will go. Great script and you can hear it the Theatrical Shenanigans production here: https://theatricalshenanigans.podbean.com

  • Nora Louise Syran: 5 Johns

A person "who hardly matters" may matter very much indeed. Great repartee and some amusing lines. A perfect shot by Christopher Soucy. Catch a super production of it by Theatrical Shenanigans https://theatricalshenanigans.podbean.com/

  • Nora Louise Syran: The Ten Minute Play (with a Nice Picture of Jimmy Carter)

"I can see the phones coming out now..." Funny! Love the meta-theatricality of this piece and the commentary on today's attention spans. There are some very funny moments as one character, with a very clear voice and opinions, tries to help an enthusiastic playwright who really doesn't have very much of a clue. The playwriting might be off track, but I really do want to see the nice picture of Jimmy Carter. Don't we all? You can listen to a wonderful audio production of it by Theatrical Shenanigans with performances by Jeff and Jacquelyn Priskorn. https://theatricalshenanigans.podbean.com/

  • Nora Louise Syran: Alone?

A super suspenseful dive into a metaphorically frozen landscape with hope arriving just in time. A beautifully produced short play by producer and playwright Rachel Feeny-Williams and a great performance by the playwright herself and playwright and performer George Sapio. Check out Theatrical Shenanigans! https://theatricalshenanigans.podbean.com/

  • Nora Louise Syran: Eucalyptus Drops, Cobblestone Alleyways, Sodium Pentathol and You

"Assassination and scholarship go hand in hand. Who knew?" A delightful Doctor Who-esque-graduate student, Magdalen, meets Thomas Venner in a 17th century alleyway to do some "field work". She's accompanied by a talking vegan cat of the very boring 22nd century. Great fun! Evocative atmosphere is quickly established and you'll be left wanting another interview in another time. Let's hope it takes Mistress Magdalen many adventures to complete her thesis!

  • Nora Louise Syran: And Try NOT To Enjoy Your Stay

Busser had me laughing with his opening playwright's note instructing the two workers to "self-choreograph [their] actions" to perform the "same function as a flight attendant who shows you where the exits are, how to put on a life vest, etc." Wildly inappropriate indeed! A whammy in the best way possible!

  • Nora Louise Syran: Julia Jennifer Rafferty Won't Come Down From the Widow's Walk

"Oh Lord of Birds and Men" this tragicomedy is absurd and so beautiful all at once. Loved it. Characters hunting for identity, connection, touch... only to realize the thing we're searching for always "looks much tinier from farther away" and it takes real courage to face it head on. It's tempting to just throw shoes at it and hope it goes away. But the truth is, we often prefer to stay trapped, refusing to face what we already know to be true. Like the false certainty of her double-barrelled name, Julia Jennifer is a widow.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Swamp City

A great short piece with a subtext that's just marvelous: hints of the Civil War, battles, conflict, white vs. black chess pieces... and yet these guys, one who has seen "a lot of miles. A lot of land. People" is learning and those who know how to stay still and "magic" are teaching one another "the rules" - "Just watch the moves and you will pick it up." Just read Gearhart's meandering, open-ended piece and you'll pick it up too: peace.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Filet O Fish

"Democracy at its finest"! Hysterical. Loved it. "Come hither" and find out what Lucy Wang's fictional ?! secret guilty pleasure is. A well paced, fun monologue with a few calving icebergs to get you thinking. Brava.
