Love the progression of this piece. The final song (which I personally have many fond memories in connection to) left me breathless. Brava.

Lawing brings us back to Highland Park on July 4, 2022 to remind us how quickly life can change in one horrific moment. Boom. Just like that. A short, deceptively simple piece with powerful staging opportunities.

Anne Frank's sister Margot also wrote a diary, but it has been lost to us. Through this play, Haas pays tribute to her and brings her to life through fluid, dream-like scenes which transcend time and depict her life as an athletic, wise and healthy young woman, sister, daughter and niece. Lovely work.

Vansant has created a lovely short two-hander about knowing when to take a leap of faith to be a part of something bigger than ourselves even when faced with that something becoming possibly all-consuming. Lovely imagery and humanity. "We’re a motley crew" :)

Mabey's tightly crafted short play brings attention to the courage of Willem Arondeus, a gay member of the Dutch anti-Nazi resistance and his final words. To quote Arthur Miller, "Attention must be paid" and this world's heroes honored. Who could resist the title? I could see this working really well as a series of short sketches throughout the days of this couple. It reminded me of the French Canadian series UN GARS, UNE FILLE :)

Soltero-Brown takes us into the particularly difficult day of a public school teacher. We witness how her job affects her marriage and her choices as a mother. While this play is more realistic than some of the playwright's other work, his sparse, naturalistic dialogue is spot on and the play ends with a bit of magic.

Don't expect any "pretentious marionettes" in this lovely short play! Brenton Kniess cleverly juxtaposes good and bad, innocence and crudity, reality and make-believe through a cathartic conversation Philip has with his two honest and reliable sidekicks. Bravo.

Through an Ingmar Bergman-like chess game with Death, Sickles makes the idea of losing a chess game or one's life, something to accept and find peace in where there is love to embrace. Lovely.
