  • Nora Louise Syran: Dead Mother

The uncertainty and unreliability of the narrator, combined with the lyrical language are reminiscent of the suspense of an Edgar Allan Poe story. Super suspenseful one-man short.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Transgression

While this short play has no plot connection to the film Psycho, it is inspired by it. Soucy manages to expose the underlying collective fear and fascination we have with the Bates character --his sensitivity, his violence, his instability- and compels us to gauge within ourselves and our society the effect these harmful transphobic depictions -- the blending of violence with gender transition -- has and will have on us as a culture. "Setting up a sacrifice to a frightened mob". Well done.

  • Nora Louise Syran: The Blank Mask

Alles sets up a super Carpenter-esque atmosphere which plays on old tropes perfectly until.. well, like any good horror, you won't see the end coming. Bravo. Glad to have been able to hear it read aloud.

  • Nora Louise Syran: The Spa

Let that woman have her spa day! You'll never look at zen rock waterfalls or Himalayan salt lamps or sausage the same way again. Ever. The narration and descriptions are particularly effective, rendering each scene more horrible in the audience's imaginations. Bravo. Fortunate to have heard this one read aloud: it would make one hell of an audio play, too.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Marley's Ghost

So tender. So still. The one animated moment of fun physical humor does nothing to detract from this short play's sense of resignation, wisdom and calm. Indeed it heightens it. There's nothing. Nothing to fear. Nothing which words in the here and now can relate. Lovely.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Playhouse

I was fortunate to hear this one brought to life and it was such a fun ride: super timing, sound effects, and a steady reveal --despite Ellie's attempts to keep her perfectionistic para-nothing-close-to-normal home together. There is so much going on, this short horror satire will not come across as a one-woman-show but, for the right actress, will be a tour de force.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Who's Afraid of Bram Stoker?

Hysterical. Join Bryan and Tad as they share a philosophical moment contemplating “the horror of being known” -- as well as --hopefully-- the rent! I was fortunate to hear this read aloud and I'm still contemplating the sexy slider ruler!

  • Nora Louise Syran: Half

Only John Busser could make horror hysterical. I was fortunate to hear this read aloud tonight and while I don't know the Conjuring series, the divorce proceedings and ensuing devilish antics were enough to leave me feeling half creeped out and half hysterical thanks to this playwright who is too clever enough by half!

  • Nora Louise Syran: Here's The Thing

This was great. Was fortunate to hear it read aloud tonight and marvel at how Floyd-Priskorn manages to make the Carpenter-esque setting both sweet and disturbing -- just brilliant.

  • Nora Louise Syran: STOCKHOLM SYNDROME - A ONE-MINUTE PLAY

To quote Lorelai:"Love it!" A seductive escape from current horrors indeed.
