  • Nora Louise Syran: Stephen Hawking's Train

Love how this short realistic time travel play opens up to its satisfying conclusion. Adore the setting of the train and all it represents and the idea of Stephen Hawking being an "intellectual hack"! Ah, yes, keeping that timeline as is... great sci-fi sinister fun!

  • Nora Louise Syran: Erstwhile

A lovely experimental piece in its playful and successful approach to capturing the passage of time and lives full of regret. Favorite line: "Neither had I ever lost my boyhood self."

Oh, if theatre were played out like a game of Scrabble, this lovely short would be a Triple word score, for certain. Loved the three female characters and the raw honesty of this piece.

I’m awfully glad that Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend wrote this blisteringly funny holiday spoof so I could sit here loudly guffawing in the local coffee shop - I mean, I’m not glad about scaring everyone around me. That’s a disturbing thing for a fan of this playwright to do, but I’m glad I came across her short political satire. I mean, I'm not glad this country is a death trap, that’s serious stuff. But I’m glad I got to read it and will be even happier if I can see it produced someday.

  • Nora Louise Syran: Erstwhile (One Act)

Loved everything from David's arrival straight from the gym (which I went back to in my imagination to costume him in a pure white tennis ensemble!) to the hilarious physical antics these three performers will have a blast performing, to the reference to Matt’s mother... Great fun!

Like the final image of this short play, there is a "resoluteness" to the entire encounter that will leave an audience entranced. Bravo.

If I were waitressing this Old Man Coffee Club, I'd be constantly coming by with more coffee just to be sure not to miss a word. Jasper had me rolling with the many variations on the Elwood theme. And just when you think you know where it's going, there's a gentle conclusion to this amusing but tender piece that also opens the door for more.

There's nothing new under the sun. This can bring comfort or could feel like a curse. Let's hope one unemployed "gentleman" can teach the other "gentleman" how to behave in future. "The punishment is your freedom" -- freedom to stop and think about actions and their consequences. "After all, tomorrow is another day..." is perhaps alluded to here: let's hope so. For all our sakes.

Delighted to be included in this Mad Looking Glass of a short-play-silliness, even if I "should know better." Fun to see another Playwright take on large cast craziness and fun to fictionally take part in this zoom reading even if life has kept me from actually taking part! Merde, Busser, Merde!

I'm often drawn to environments in stories and thought this one, set in the woods, would be worth a shot. Pun intended. Mix in some humor and father/teenage son dynamics ("What do you find so glorious about going off into the woods with a gun?") and you've a terrifically tense horror short your audience will be buzzing about. (Can also see this as a short film, too--sorry purists out there!)
