  • Mike Byham: 37 Origami Bees

Simple, yet extraordinarily effective, Weaver’s ode to the bee-verse is a fun romp that will be enjoyed by children of all ages. Wonderfully imaginative, physical theatre.

  • Mike Byham: The Last First Date

I love stories that include the urgency of the end of the world. Brent Alles creates a bittersweet scenario where two well-matched people meet in unfortunate circumstance, yet find a way to connect in a deeply meaningful way. I would love to know more about these characters and their stories. This is a beautiful short.

  • Mike Byham: An Audience of One

An interesting study in humans ability to communicate a lot with short verbal cues, AN AUDIENCE OF ONE begs the reader and audience to wish the HERO a happy ending - especially since he pleads for such with an epic monologue inserted at precisely the right spot to illuminate the difference between this dreamer and the monosyllabic existence of his rival CUSTOMER. The beauty of this piece is all that is communicated in such a short span with so few words. A masterclass in short play development.

  • Mike Byham: Watching for Sasquatch: An Environmental Play of Plays

I saw Chapter Two: The Saskatchewan Saskwatchers Club staged live and really enjoyed it. This short was an uplifting commentary on the building of community, friendship, where we find it and recognize it. A lot of laughs, smiles and aw’s packed into ten minutes. Very sweet two-hander. Well done!

  • Mike Byham: Doctor J's Magic Spray

Doctor J’s Magic Spray is short I had the pleasure of seeing staged live. The actors had a blast with this funny story of a carnival huckster selling a concoction that exposes our true feelings. The audience loved the humor of the piece and the deeper message resonates throughout. Well done!

  • Mike Byham: Five Miles Long, Two Hundred Feet High

I was lucky enough to see this performed live. Oh my, what a wonderful two-handed meet-cute crafted by Maripat Allen. Funny and heartfelt, FIVE MILES LONG, TWO HUNDRED FEET HIGH is a winning short! The audience howled with laughter and smiled at the ending you could see five miles away and still relish. Loved it.

  • Mike Byham: HATCHED (10MP)

I got to see this play performed live and it’s was marvelous. A gentle tale of human connection between a young lady and her uncle, there is wisdom found in the writing that shines a light on the best impulses of human nature. Uplifting story with meaning. Beautifully done.

  • Mike Byham: Fable Group

The intersection of parental trauma, fairy tales and the need for community is where you'll find the necessary elements for this deliciously dark and funny play. Martineau mines comic gold while addressing issues of people trying to get well after suffering childhood stuck in - ironically - stories created to keep children safe. Audiences will laugh while having something to discuss when leaving the theatre. So well done.

  • Mike Byham: Schnoz

"Schnoz" is a wonderfully creative look at the relationships we have with our own body parts and what they mean to our identity and how we wish to be seen (or even see ourselves). Compelling and topically contemporary as it is, the message does not diminish the humor of the piece. Audiences will surely enjoy this short and actors will absolutely eat this up. Good stuff.

  • Mike Byham: Chewie, Get Us Out of Here

Chewie, Get Us Out of Here is a lot of fun for anyone, more so for us sci-fi nerds who will catch the multitude of references packed into the ten minutes of away-mission chaos. Williams wisely uses the OG Star Trek characters as focal - Kirk's overbearing ridiculousness is a perfect fit here - and the voyage careens merrily along until the dreaded dramaturgs create urgency in a return to the ship. Poor, poor Chekhov.
