  • Mike Byham: Machihembra

Sam Heyman has crafted a beautiful story in "Machihembra" filled with sympathetic characters drawing from real-life experiences. The dialogue is rich and poetic, but it's the love-filled message of acceptance and hope that resonates and lingers. The clever use of a shadow-person for ALEX'S introspective reflection is an effective device. Meaningful and lovely - this one-act should be read by children questioning their identity and even more so by their parents. Excellent work.

  • Mike Byham: A Woman of Murder

A wonderfully funny opportunity for actors of a certain age! Funny - and with a great twist, this piece should be in the summer programs of community theatres everywhere. Jacquie Floyd Priskhorn’s A WOMAN OF MURDER is a sure-fire audience-pleasing winner. Someone produce this quick and be the first of many!

  • Mike Byham: The Coat Check Girl

I was struck by both the immediacy and relevance of this short. The play within a play concept is intriguing - even more so since it’s based on truth. Nora Louise Syran does a masterful job of creating and building tension as the intertwined stories reach their climax. Interesting and compelling theatre.

  • Mike Byham: Enemies With Benefits

As a veteran of a few Comic-Cons I can attest to the joy experienced when you’ve found your people! Julie Brandon captures this feeling in a humorous ten-minute short filled with cosplayers and a confused superhero / supervillain pair. I love how the hero and villain are warmly welcomed to humanity. Lots of fun!

  • Mike Byham: RUBY - A Ten-Minute Dark Dramedy

I saw this touching short at a festival in California. A mysterious stranger appears unbidden but just at the right moment to set things back on track for a hapless soul. Just the right touch of humor to lighten the mood. Interesting, fun and poignant.

  • Mike Byham: 37 Origami Bees

We get to observe and listen in on a delightful "mission" as two bees observe and listen in on kids at camp. What do they talk about? Pending extinction of their species? Well, yes. That and ... love, of course. A very sweet tale of two bee-ings connecting. Well done.

LOL funny! Fans of noir will appreciate this short. This is how parodies are done. So much fun to be had for actors and audiences alike.

  • Mike Byham: 37の折り紙の蜂 – 37 Origami Bees

A sweet tale of love. In five minutes, we get the Jackson family history in a conversation that doesn't feel like exposition. Very natural, with warm emotions and remembrances. Deb Cole crafted a short that feels like a family hug. So well done. Bee-utiful.

So much fun and so surprising! Chris Soucy takes us for a ride on the noir crazy train that finds a way to leave the tracks. This short is ripe for expansion and staging - or even filming. Enjoyable!
