  • Kendra Augustin: SEX AND VIOLENCE

This play just bathes in the painful nature (in a humorous way) of self producing in New York City. I honestly think it should be part of a guide book given to first time producer playwrights in New York City. I also love how incredibly active, and informative, and chaotic everything is. It's so full of energy! Thrives in zoom and I'm sure it'll do the same on the stage. Maybe in a "Noises Off" kind of way!

I enjoy reading Corona pieces from various stages of the pandemic because it's wild to see what our behaviors and thoughts were like just 3 months ago, 2 months ago. It's uncomfortable to read because it's like a reflection of a world not so long ago but also funny because we're stupid in different ways each month.

  • Kendra Augustin: All the Difference

As someone who quotes Robert Frost whenever I can/a big fan of libraries this was lovely to read. To me it was a play about two people who love things that may not be cool, but oddly enough find a safe space to speak deeply about something they each love. And being heard. They play ended and both fellas ended the piece a little softer.

  • Kendra Augustin: Stick

I was writing a play few days ago and I was disgusted by how utterly basic it was. Reading this reminded of how much fun you can have in writing. The richness of the text. The humour, the uncomfortable intimacy, the taking a metaphor and really examining it... literally. Giving me the motivation to think more interestingly/carefully when I write next!

  • Kendra Augustin: The Trouble with Mustard Greens

Just as an actor it was fun to read through. I love that its a mix of storytelling and being present with the food. It keeps it active, engaging. And of course the intersection of being a child of immigrants and an American is always relatable and relevant. I love how she speaks on it with that sort of angst that most first gens do but then recognizes the beauty of the people which seems to soften her and enables her to want to connect and support her mother. Something, I, myself have been considering as well!

  • Kendra Augustin: Check Me Out

I enjoy the mixing of these characters and their awareness of what people say about them/their place in society. I also enjoyed that we get to watch them get to understand each other and each other's worlds and that we, the audience, leave this play a bit more educated.

  • Kendra Augustin: The True Meaning of Christmas

The initial escape room where we mix zombies and vampires with Santa actually sounds awesome and I would love to take part. But, i like how the title reels you into thinking this is potentially a sweet piece about family and Christmas but it's really about how to make Christmas sellable. And it's in ways that to the masses would likely be considered offensive but to the people pitching it's noble, brilliant, topical. I think that's capitalism in a nutshell!

  • Kendra Augustin: First Day in Trade

It's a fun play where the icon is like a shadowy figure. I think I could get lost in this world if Jennifer decides to make it into a longer piece. My Week with Jackie, if you will!

  • Kendra Augustin: Domestic Service

Very frustrating and still all too relevant story but with slow changes currently happening in the industry the ending monologue is so hopeful and would be a lovely way to end a night of short plays!

  • Kendra Augustin: Jeremiah's Creeping Arm

As a writer I'm always like WHAT DOES ACTIVE DIALOUGE MEAN???? But upon reading this play i finally get it. Every line here is taking a step forward at a brisk pace towards some place you weren't aware you needed to go until you reached it. Would be cool to see it live.
