Artistic Statement

My work as a writer and performer has spanned silent physical comedy, multimedia theater, immersive installations, and live storytelling. This twisty path not only reflects a love of variety and eclecticism, but of fusion - I like to take contrasting elements and see what happens when they’re smashed together, or simply exhibited next to each other.

The artistry I respond to most enthusiastically takes intimate, lived experiences and transmits them to others through abstraction and remove: Louise Bourgeois, Hal Hartley, and Suzan-Lori Parks are three examples of artists who inspire me. In my own work, I explore questions of culture, class, and identity, as well as the places they intersect. One of my aims is to viscerally transmit the interior relationship that each of us has with ourselves.
