Artistic Statement

At the center of my work is one obsessive question:
What do we need to shake off today in order to be more available for pleasure and surprise?

My plays are the place for the shaking.

On a subject level, I write about femme bodies interacting with violence and pleasure in America's.

On a formal level, my plays feel like a dance floor. I break down assumptions about “reality” through the material reorganization of sound, movement and language. I use sensory, visceral and surreal storytelling elements to carve space for cathartic pleasure.

When in process, I draw from a devising-performance background and work from an ethos of investigative play. I believe scripts crack open in unexpected ways and each co-creator wields a joyful hammer.

My plays are kinetic and sharp. They affirm and upend our emotional experiences while repeating one simple mantra - we only have this moment, these bodies, right now.

With my work, I help us wrestle through tension of now to land, pleasurably disoriented, in a more embodied and collective future.
