The best dramas have elements of comedy to lighten the mood, relax the viewer, and sneak in to heighten the emotion of the show. MISSION by Robert Weibezahl does just that. Lee and Jamie have a failing relationship. They lost their connection to each other and are on a mission of their own through their travel. Weibezahl crafts a realistic couple navigating a rough patch while keeping the roles gender-neutral. This dramedy would be a dream to cast. You could simply pick the best performers from the audition and pair them together.
  • It's Totally Not

IT'S TOTALLY NOT by DC Cathro is a quick funny two-hander with amazing quippy pacing. Coincidences build and Margie is beginning to think the world is trying to tell her something. Her partner Duane tries to bring her back to reality. The play shines with its witty dialogue. The conversation feels real, the jokes are very well written, and the pay-off at the end is superb. I laughed out loud reading this show and would love to see it performed live. This show would be perfect for a festival with a supernatural theme.
  • Be That As It May

BE THAT AS IT MAY is a show that will be a stand-out in festivals. Andrew Martineau's quick-witted comedy has some great unexpected twists and fantastic opportunities for the actors to shine. In the show, Russ, a professor at a local college, gets laid off and takes drastic measures. Joe, the dean of the school, tries to stop him from making a mistake. The layers of this show are what really sets it apart and lays the foundation for a hilarious punchline. Well…be that as it may, I think this show deserves to be seen on stage.

I had the privilege of seeing this twice as a part of Theater Unmasked performances and love it. It is a natural progression of the inspiration with brilliant moments and some real candy for the actors to bite into. It’s a wonderful mix of comedic beats with earnest delivery of clarity. This is a great show to perform live.

DEEPER is the type of play that sits with you. It's a beautiful story with unexpected twists – an inspiring and funny two-hander about a dark topic. Change and free will are at the center of Andrew and Ophelia's situation. This witty show with fantastic characters will shine on stage and is sure to deliver moments that linger with the audience. DEEPER is witty and touching, with some brilliant unexpected shifts.
  • HAINTS GONE A HAUNTIN'
    8 Jun. 2021
HAINTS GONE A HAUNTIN' is just fun. Ghosts grow bored of their haunt and move out to the bigger world. This audio comedy would translate well to the stage but I think would really shine as a radio play with full Foley effects. This play has the legs to support a series with the main characters. It has pulp audio vibes that easily bring the listener back to the golden age. This would be a fun addition to a Halloween show.
  • Adrift
    8 Jun. 2021
"Adrift" starts as a fun dramedy about a group of friends navigating the fallout of a couple's failed relationship and ends with an intriguing mystery that leaves you wanting more. It is, at its heart, a play about relationships and boundaries. It's about personal recovery after being set adrift in life when a relationship ends. The truth of the characters really shines when they spot a boat containing a deep mystery adrift offshore. "Adrift" is a fun contemporary mystery that raises more questions than answers and gives permission to the audience to come to their own conclusions.

This play is definitely abjectly silly and an absolute riot. The writing is quick, witty, and completely charming. The stage directions are just as golden as the dialogue with one particular note making me actually laugh out loud. Ghlamping celebrates silly in a way that is desperately needed in today's world. This is the show for you if you're looking for a comedy that embraces the absurd in just the right way.

I love the wit and charm of this show. It's funny, intimate, and engaging. Michael is the real stand-out character playing perfectly off of Jill's calm inquiry. In the end, Jill really steals the show. This is a fantastic 10-minute two-hander. I read it an hour ago and I'm still laughing. I highly recommend it.
