Artistic Statement

Born (and partially raised) in Mexico, I have a very specific point of view into the Mexican American experience. Beginning with the identity crisis that is wanting to belong to one of the other.
What I offer in my writing is my own view into the lives of people inflicted with similar wounds, and experiences.
Being a queer man in this patriarchal system, I tend to have those experiences told in my writing as well. But I would never want to pigeonhole myself, especially a novice writer, I want to explore stories of many people, I just have to begin with my own.
My goal is to provide a voice for those who can’t have one for themselves yet. For my mama, my tias, my sisters. My papa, my tíos, my brothers.
In some way, this is my version of sharing the American Dream with them.
