  • Alice Josephs: Head Spin

The entire plot of a stage or radio play or movie in seven pages. With resonance in many fields, this is a convincing portrayal of how a beautiful and talented dancer, who should have the world at her feet, becomes a victim. The addition of a ballet company run by a woman which becomes a refuge for the talented but damaged and abused is all too plausible and a different take on a now sadly familiar topic. A sensitive and crafty piece.

  • Alice Josephs: The Duck Did it!

Oh gosh, an embryo comedy horror movie - start casting now! :D Like a malign version of Jimmy Stewart classic Harvey (original play Mary Chase) crossed with The Omen’s child Damien (idea Bob Munger, Screenplay David Seltzer) Timmy’s ‘imaginary’ friend Albert the Duck is a terrifying unseen instrument of destruction. But one can’t help a snigger, nay giggle, nay belly laugh, as feathers fly in grotesque fashion. This of course could also be an inventive stage piece with great timing and visuals! Once you’ve met Albert the Duck you’ll never be the same again … ;)

  • Alice Josephs: Three Wolves Howling

How can one not adore a tale with a royal heir’s song that says, ‘I don’t know all that ruling’s about but you know, we will figure it out when we are kings.’?! A wonderful, empowering, quirky musical which has rhythm of its own. A kind of Wicked for Wolves (when for my generation wolves, apart from The Jungle Book, had a bad press!). This is practically begging a director and actors to take it in hand to workshop it for production with a book and lyrics full of wit and quiet wisdom!

  • Alice Josephs: Stitched Together

A 21st century variation on the ‘Dolls’ Hospital’ in 1960s and 70s kids’ comics. Still suitable for children, this manages the considerable feat of being both a gentle and humorous piece, but with an out-of-sight truly sadistic villain and also dealing with the possibility of injury with light touch social comment. This would also work as a radio/podcast play or a cartoon. But on stage the director and actors, sound and lighting would have plenty of scope with a play on a child’s subject with unexpected depths and deft handling of difficult subjects.

  • Alice Josephs: Star Light, Star Bright

Awww, this is a brilliant, gorgeous little family piece to tug at the heart strings. It’s also the opportunity for a director and lighting designer to convey its sincere and warm message inventively. The perfect tender and empathetic antidote In an age of youngsters competing for the perfect social media and prom image which will delight parents and children alike!

  • Alice Josephs: Accidental Fatal Attraction

A rookie and come uppance ghost story with a clever corporeal twist. An easy play to stage, this is a gift for actors and a director and an entertaining piece for anyone lucky enough to watch it!

  • Alice Josephs: Hold them Stunned

A joyous modern fairy tale with an original riff on the ubiquitous witch and ‘magic potion’ trope. Witty, sharp and either theatrical or filmic, this has thrills and spills (literally!), real satirical bite and, naturally, a happy ending!

  • Alice Josephs: Miss Charlotte

A wonderfully written, unusual, atmospheric piece where, in an understated and natural way, we feel viscerally the joy and hurt of the narrator, both physically and mentally. This could work on stage in a Beckett-like void and it’s a monologue which could be rewarding and searing for actor, director and audience.

  • Alice Josephs: Scandals and Scones

A charming piece with a decidedly sardonic edge about ladies who bake! With great roles for female actors of all ages, this twist on the traditional British village fete theme brings in tension and malfeasance, all with a large dollop of clotted cream comedy! Delicious!

  • Alice Josephs: They Walk Amongst Us

A great scareathon (and all in 10 pages!). They Walk Among Us has a cast of four for a classic shlock horror in the tradition of second half of the 20th century movies. Also what an opportunity for a make up/costume designer to make their mark. With effective lighting and direction. This could scare the living daylights out of an audience in the best possible way!
