Artistic Statement

My plays are often intimate and based on the news (Standing in the Shadows, about an injured woman's struggle for recovery; Motherless Child, about gentrification) or epic and based on history (Paterson Falls, set in 1913, concerns saloons, salons and silk strikes; A More Opportune Time, a Faustian take on the 2008 election campaign.) Comedy is an important element in even my most serious plays, including my current work-in-progress, The Last Free Flowing River (working title, about memory and eminent domain.)
