This play is such a joy to read, with a whiz-bang beginning, a jaw-dropping ending, and laugh-out-loud dialogue on every page in between. Its sly comic tone elicits much more than laughter, though, since its message is so urgent and so passionately (and persuasively) presented throughout the entire script. All in all, a brilliant and highly entertaining satire ... and very deserving of wide production!!

A highly original comedy-drama about family dynamics and the cycle of life. ACTS OF CREATION is topical, poignant and often very funny, with five juicy roles for actors to enjoy and explore. Well-deserving of all the accolades it's already received!

A brilliantly-constructed, fast-paced comedy-drama that is -- at one and the same time -- hilarious, disturbing, poignant and (most of all) profoundly human. Loved the bang-bang beginning, the thought-provoking ending, and all the great, crackling dialogue in between. Should be a veritable feast for actors, with four fully fleshed-out, multi-dimensional characters. Really enjoyed reading this ... bravo!!

Captivating convergence of the past, the present and the (possible) future at a rundown B&B in rural Oregon. Rachael Carnes is an absolute master at weaving the quirky everyday travails of her characters with cosmic concerns like love, loss and the meaning of life, and this play is a great example of her spellbinding storytelling magic. MALHEUR is a weird and wonderful ride, often chilling, sometimes hilarious. Highly recommended!

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this! So smart, so funny ... though truly chilling here and there, like real life. Absolutely pitch-perfect for a high-school cast. Brilliantly constructed satire with a big heart and a compelling, uplifting message. Very deserving of wide production. Brava!
