  • Eric Roberts: The Ecological Disaster of Human Narcissism

Brekken writes with clear conviction in this piece and instantly captivates the reader with the worry and curiosity of someone watching an antique roller coaster still being ridden today. Her natural language elevates a portrait of control through guilt gripped emotion. They are a strong playwright with a clear vision that pushes the conventions of a two-person show. 10/10 will recommend it.

There is an incredible richness to Laura’s writing as she adapts a short tale of an arranged marriage into a full-length play about love, loyalty, and trailblazing one's fate. The balance of song, comedy, and stage combat balances the gritty decisions made by a developing captain. The dialogue and characters are rich and diverse and portray strong women bound by loyalty and friendship. The only difference I have with the script is its ending, like a challenging shift in narrative. Regardless I can see myself in the future directing this piece play because there isn't much like it.
