  • Morey Norkin: Incoming Male

Bruce Karp packs a double whammy in this fast-paced story of potential roommates with a past connection. Anyone who has ever been bullied might like to have a similar opportunity as presented here. But more than that it’s the lesson of hope and support for those trying to learn and grow that truly resonates. Well done!

  • Morey Norkin: ZEN

Such a fascinating two-hander with very distinct characters. Two women from different backgrounds, both dealing with ailing mothers and trying to come to terms with their relationships before it’s too late. Sarah talks incessantly and Denita would much rather be alone with her book, but every once in awhile, Sarah manages to say something that, no matter how thoughtless, pricks at Denita’s conscience. A terrific theatre piece that also includes some excellent monologues from the chatty Sarah.

  • Morey Norkin: The Cons

A great period piece that mixes baseball, prison reform, and prisoner exploitation into a well told historical drama. Like a finely tuned baseball team, this ensemble piece has a distinctive group of characters supporting the overall narrative. And as in many memorable prison stories, you can’t help but root for The Cons and boo the corrupt justice system. This would be absolutely compelling to see on stage.

  • Morey Norkin: Hearts of Brothers' Temper

A fascinating piece of American and theatrical history that should have been more significant on its own rather than the footnote it has become. Megan Fraedrich does a terrific job of bringing the Booth brothers to life and exploring the parallels between their upcoming performance of Julius Caesar and the ongoing turmoil of the Civil War. A great piece with three challenging roles. Hope there are more productions ahead.

  • Morey Norkin: The Geometry of You (a monologue)

Wow! I need a moment after reading this. A moving and loving reminiscence becomes something I would never have imagined. Brilliant and powerful!

  • Morey Norkin: CREAK

A nifty tie-in to Jacquie Floyd Priskorn’s A SHOP IN THE DARK. Are children facing a reality even scarier than their wildest imagination? That’s a frightening thought, and one presented here with great skill and compassion.

  • Morey Norkin: A LAUGH

Sweet and tender, A LAUGH is quite literally breathtaking. You can’t help but be drawn in by this charming older couple, sharing their laughter and being touched by their love story. This play will stay with you long after you read or see it. Simply beautiful.

  • Morey Norkin: A Doctor's Visit

A play set almost a thousand years ago and premiered two decades ago and perhaps has its most relevance today. Mark Loewenstern’s intelligent two-hander provides a thoughtful look at comparative religion and Middle East history in this brief encounter. If only the conversation could continue in such a civilized manner. Excellent!

  • Morey Norkin: Miss Shakespeare

Food for thought. With all the speculation about whether Shakespeare wrote Shakespeare, why not speculate that Shakespeare did, but as a woman? By the end of this fun ten minutes, you’re likely to seriously consider the possibility. Produce this and let the discussion begin!
