  • Morey Norkin: SURPRISE ON A BENCH (a 10 minute play)

Marj O’Neill-Butler does a masterful job of drawing us into this meeting of two strangers who may be much more. As we gain hope for this relationship, O’Neill-Butler flips the script. The last line actually gave me chills! As others have noted, this could be expanded, and I would certainly love to see what other surprises might be in store. But make no mistake, this play stands on its own as is. So enjoy it!

  • Morey Norkin: The Bear - Diamonds are for Heather

The Bear’s super powers are on full display in this the 8th installment in the Bear series. Also a bit of romance for the fuzzy fellow. In an unusual twist, Bear, usually so full of himself (as well as stuffing), actually shares the spotlight with his aerial acrobatic amore. Will this trapeze tryst continue? Inquiring minds want to know!

  • Morey Norkin: When the Dodgers Left Brooklyn

    D. Lee Miller has created a lovely remembrance and anticipation with a grandfather newly arrived in heaven meeting his granddaughter on her way to earth. The dialogue is sweet and funny, and the called for lighting effects will lend an ethereal quality that will certainly transport audiences. I would love to see this staged!

  • Morey Norkin: Sojourn! (A Pizza Story)

Man can not live on beans alone, but he can certainly come up with enough bean jokes to make Mel Brooks proud! Tom Moran’s (partnered with Marty Moran) take on life at Walden Pond is absolutely hilarious! The Tinder joke alone would be worth the price of admission! This needs to be staged!

  • Morey Norkin: The People vs. The Supreme Court

An excellent summation before the jury! And if this case were allowed to run its course through the judicial system, this attorney would have the chance to make the same argument in front of the very audience that needs to hear it: the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, if enough people get to read or see this, maybe some changes can take place. Here’s hoping for a long and effective run!

  • Morey Norkin: Wait or Go

In this sequel to Waiting for Godot, David Beardsley seems to be channeling the spirit of Samuel Beckett! The wit and world weary wisdom of the original is alive and well here with the return of Gogo and Didi. The absurdist banter is perfect. And as Didi contemplates his buttons, we are left to contemplate the fate of these two characters and larger existential questions. The wait continues. Well done!

  • Morey Norkin: Backyard Stonehenge

TJ and Kendra may not make it to the real Stonehenge, but they are off on a much more important journey of discovery and recovery. Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn’s trademark humor and deeply felt storytelling are so present in this beautiful play. You’ll be rooting for these two engaging characters as they repair the foundation of their relationship one stone at a time.

  • Morey Norkin: Sorry I'm Late

What starts out as a common urban scenario, arguing over a parking space (quite humorously in this case), becomes a touching moment of deeper connection. Beautifully written by Dana Hall, this piece is excellent audition material. And if you want to see it done right, you can see Dana’s terrific delivery on YouTube.

  • Morey Norkin: Batman Vs. The Person Stealing Out of the Work Fridge

Over the top hilarious! Batman like you’ve never seen him before. Unless perhaps you’ve read Emily Hageman’s other caped crusader installments, which I now feel compelled to do. The laughs keep coming as Batman, hardly disguised as Bruce Wayne, must solve the mystery of missing yogurt. This would be so much fun to see staged.

  • Morey Norkin: Watchwomen

I read this with my best Monty Python voices in my head and that certainly added to the humor that is already abundant in the script. A fun premise and three great roles for female comic actors. Would love to see this staged with voices better than the ones in my head.
