  • Morey Norkin: It's the Jews

For playwrights, this story of artistic control is universal. And for Jews, being told we control the narrative or anything else is a never ending struggle. With great humor, including a brilliantly named Artistic Director, John Minigan brings these two thoughts together for quite an emotional impact. This play is truly deserving of acclaim it has received.

  • Morey Norkin: "Guten Tag, Baby!"

A memory long hidden, most likely for “the good of all concerned,” comes rushing back during a visit to a familiar place. Characters in the play are overwhelmed by the revelation and no doubt audiences will be as well. Scott Sickles has created an almost dreamlike scene with engaging characters that draw us into the retelling of a beautiful romance only to force us to wake up to a disturbing reality. Every role is a gem. Hopefully more productions are in store.

  • Morey Norkin: The Play by ChatGPT in the style of Michele A Miller about ChatGPT writing a play about the writer Michele A Miller

Meta to the tenth power and just as clever and funny. I have had my own conversations with ChatGPT, so there’s a lot to recognize here, which makes this such great satire. This is my first encounter with Michele A. Miller’s work, making me want to learn more about what writing in the style of Michele A. Miller is all about.

  • Morey Norkin: A Wager

A son/daughter-in-law and father/mother-in-law with some nasty business dealings. How can they resolve conflicts with so many shared secrets? That is the crux of this tense two-hander. And the result is perfect! Nicely done!

  • Morey Norkin: Fixed

Two characters so completely different in their appearance and the way they speak, but each dealing with their own trauma. DC Cathro brings these two together in an unusual setting as Marrk prepares to offer his unique tattoo service to Christy. In the course of the play, each character’s “damage” is exposed. But can they simply be covered over with ink? It’s the stuff beneath the surface that makes these characters and this play so extraordinary. You can catch an outstanding reading of FIXED by visiting Tiny Theatre on Facebook.

  • Morey Norkin: A Tragedy Of Owls

Tragic, heroic, and beautifully told. So many stories of individuals or small groups fighting Nazi atrocities that remain largely unknown. Thank you, John Mabey, for shedding light on these particular brave souls with your unique and intelligent writing.

  • Morey Norkin: I, Phone

Great concept with very funny dialogue! Maybe smartphones are becoming a little too smart. Don’t let the folks at Apple and Google see this, but everyone else please do!

  • Morey Norkin: Poor Paige

What we see in POOR PAIGE is that sometimes a friend in need is just a needy friend. Deb Cole does a great job of showing that even good friends have boundaries when it comes to money. And poor Paige doesn’t have a clue. A fun two-hander that will have people nodding in recognition and discussing their own experiences.

  • Morey Norkin: TWO LADIES IN BLACK HEADING TOWARD A BENCH (a 10 minute comedy)

A delightful story of looking for love in some unusual places. Two charming characters and very funny dialogue make this short two-hander a cinch to be the talk of any festival.

  • Morey Norkin: The Weak Link in the Chain

We forge our own chains in life, often with contributions from others, restricting our growth and freedom. If we’re lucky, we find a way to break free or at least loosen their hold. Christopher Plumridge presents this struggle in a thought-provoking monologue. The opportunities for imaginative staging are endless, helping to make this an extraordinarily powerful piece. There is no weak link here.
