  • WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE THIS
    3 Apr. 2019
This is a heartrending bruise of a play, and it examines both domestic violence and the story of an immigrant from a completely unique angle. I have watched Jonathan's work develop over the past several years, and this play is a great example of their skill as a singularly imaginative dramatist.
  • Eggs on Ice
    3 Apr. 2019
As a co-founder of Mission to (dit)Mars, I had the privilege of working with Kristine to develop EGGS ON ICE. It is a timely, feminist, and often hilarious play that examines the pressures of biology, motherhood, and the demands professional women face. It is thought provoking and laugh out loud funny. This play should be produced!
  • To Fall in Love
    3 Apr. 2019
This play broke my heart into about 400 pieces, and I mean that in the best way. It's rare that a play makes me cry from just reading it, but this one did. It is so honest and raw and the ending is one of the bravest I've read.
  • FRIENDS WITH GUNS
    14 May. 2018
A prescient and important play that flips the script on liberal attitudes towards gun ownership, and becomes a powerful piece about what it is like to be in the skin of a woman. It doesn't take sides as much as it challenges strongly held beliefs, while also being a deeply feminist work that surprised me at every turn. I could not put it down.
  • Jump
    9 Mar. 2018
A gorgeous, sparse, haunting meditation on grief, with a surprise twist that I didn't see coming (and I pride myself on anticipating such things!). It is sad and dark, but with the hope and promise of human connection, forgiveness, and letting go of what we have lost.
  • The Mermaids' Parade
    7 Mar. 2018
A beautiful, prescient, imaginative play that mixes the gritty reality of coastal Brooklyn with magical realism.
  • Let There Be Love
    10 Nov. 2017
This is such a fantastic, sharp, and often hilarious script. Inspired by ancient myth but very much in today's world, Mrinalini examines the human need to find love with a sharp eye and critical view of our modern ways of connecting.
  • Tenants, or, When the Hornet Arrives
    10 Nov. 2017
This play kept me awake at night. Shocking, terrifying, and meticulously crafted, Nat proves time and time again he's one of the best people writing horror for the stage.
  • Eleven Shades of Blue
    10 Nov. 2017
This is one of my favorite plays by Amy. Her examination of the female experience combined with some fantastic theatrical imagery (Coney Island is such a rich visual inspiration) is exciting and fresh.
  • Rizing
    10 Nov. 2017
RIZING was my introduction to Jason's work, and the play that got him accepted into our Propulsion Lab writer's group. Jason has a skill for world building, and a knack for writing about LGBT issues that doesn't feel forced or preachy, and RIZING is an intriguing combination of those skills.
