Sondai NaNaBuluku sheds light on the global plight of Black people losing our collective sense of value, self-love, and worth. To me, this looks like embodying the ideals of Sankofa, meaning that we must look back at our ancestry, history and generational scars in order to claim new acts of jubilation for the generations to come because we will have these joys because of that history not in spite of it. As a writer, I talk to my spirits, my family, my enemies, my demons, and my deities to create existential growth through the word.
