  • Greg Mandryk: Occupied

I don’t know who challenged Aly Kantor to write a compelling play set entirely in a series of restrooms, but she pulled it off splendidly. This would be an amazing opportunity for two young actresses to showcase their talents as their characters grow and become increasingly aware of the often frightening world outside the haven of the bathroom stalls.

  • Greg Mandryk: The Grape Nerds Reunion (10 Minute Play)

In a society where success is often measured by financial worth, we need reminders like The Grape Nerds Reunion that your worth isn't measured by bank statements, but by your impact on those around you. Sweet and full of positive vibes, this short play deserves to be produced.

  • Greg Mandryk: Be That As It May

Not all plays need to challenge our perspective on humanity. Sometimes, you just need a little silliness, and Andrew Martineau's Be That As It May is here to deliver in spades.

  • Greg Mandryk: Talkback

For anyone who, for whatever reason, has been stuck doing a talkback (I guess it's possible to participate in one willingly, but I've never understood why anyone would do that), this is pretty much on the nose. Utterly hilarious!

  • Greg Mandryk: Don't Forget To Leave A Review

    Oh, this is just beautiful.

Most theater communities are fairly supportive even when a production is a little on the dreadful side. But what if they weren’t? What if they really, really weren’t?

Rob Matsushita’s Be Sure to Leave a Review is the perfect catharsis for anyone who’s had to endure the unendurable performance.

  • Greg Mandryk: Beautifully So

I don’t want to give anything away, but there’s a lot of sweetness behind this play’s adulterous theme.

Brian Cern’s handles the dialogue so well that I wished I had been reading audition sides instead of play I’ll probably never see. Someone please prove me wrong on that.

  • Greg Mandryk: A Dance With Death

It's like a fever dream one has after watching The Seventh Seal and some old Warner Brothers cartoons back-to-back. Uhter peppers this short play with equal parts silliness and melancholy. In the hands of a talented cast, it could be quite beautiful and poignant. The staging is either going to be an exciting challenge or a turnoff for anyone considering whether or not to mount a production. I'd love to see some ambitious theatre give this one a whirl just to see how some of the imagery is handled.

  • Greg Mandryk: Gingerbread

Gingerbread by D.L. Siegel is an examination of the cost and worth of dreams. That ambition that gets you out of bed in the morning might be setting you up for a hell of a fall. Is it maybe better to take life one day at a time with no hopes for the future? Siegel provides three very genuine and relatable characters, all of whom would be a treat for an actor to sink their teeth into. Overall, a very good read and I'd love to see it produced.

  • Greg Mandryk: Another Goddamn Dystopian Play

I, for one, will never turn my nose up at a good dystopian play. Especially when they’re as enjoyable as this one! Granted, J. Chavez is writing for a very niche audience here. But if you’re on NPX (and you are), you are well within the target demographic. So, quit reading this recommendation and read Another Goddamn Dystopian Play!

  • Greg Mandryk: FLIGHT FRIGHT (a 10 minute comedy)

If you’re looking for a play that gives mature actresses a chance to do physical comedy, your options a pretty limited. Luckily, there’s this little gem by Marj O’Neill-Butler. When aerophobic Judy needs to travel cross-country for a family emergency, her friends attempt to help her overcome her fear of flying with an impromptu airplane crash simulation. I’d love to see this performed!
