  • Anna Tatelman: This Bitter Earth

I saw this at the Seattle Public Theatre last month and consider it to be one of the best plays I've seen this theatre season. The script brings up a host of complex political topics (passive activism and intersectionality, to name just a couple) through the lens of one very specific couple's individual identities and personal relationship. This wonderfully challenges the audience to consider these issues in relation to their own lives, without ever beating said audience over the head.

  • Anna Tatelman: Le Camembert

Very punny! The humor in this piece is concise and hilarious, from the food-related euphemisms to the battle over cultural superiority.

  • Anna Tatelman: SPIDER BITES

Absolutely hilarious! Who knew that interspecies love could be so beautiful, moving, funny, and of course, weird. Scott Stolnack does a great job balancing the familiar aspects of a relationship, like disapproving parents, with those that are more unique to this particular couple, such as their mating habits.

  • Anna Tatelman: Hotter Than Egypt

I saw this play at ACT in 2022 and absolutely loved it. The ways in which the two couples lives intersect and collide are exquisitely portrayed. The script touches upon a myriad of socio-political issues -- the U.S. military industrial complex, intersectionality, and inter-racial relationships, to name a few -- without ever veering toward didactic or preachy language. Bonus, I learned a lot about modern Egypt!
