  • Brent Alles: A Lot of Time to Think

10/27/24: I had the absolute pleasure and honor of seeing a reading of this at Planet Ant's "Halloween Hootenany," and it was indeed a great piece. Dzubak builds the tension and dread so effectively. The audience I was with were so engrossed that you could hear a pin drop during the reading of it. This should do well in any future festivals or even audio projects that would choose to have it. Highly recommended.

  • Brent Alles: Making Out With Katy and Jonah (The Orgone Oscillation Overthruster Play)

10/26/24: Drawn in by the two main characters immediately, and then the use of poetry just advanced my enjoyment so much more. Then Chris arrives, and the electricity brought to the scene makes one snap to attention. I loved the use of language throughout this work and enjoyed my time being able to revel in the world and the sounds of the Orgone Oscillation Overthruster as suggested by Thal. A weirdly memorable and enjoyable 10-minute! Always enjoy a rom com from an askew angle.

  • Brent Alles: After the Rehearsal

10/26/24: Wonderful slice-of-life. Webber does a great job of making the kids' voices authentic, and I was drawn into the show choir world instantly. You really get to feel for these kids and the modern stresses that they are going through that are only augmented by the extracurricular activities. I don't know if Webber plans to expand this at any point, and it certainly works on its own, but I would definitely be interested in learning more about these kids and spending more time with them!

  • Brent Alles: Olly Olly Oxen Free

10/26/24: This was a very creepy horror piece. Loved how the tension kept building throughout until it reaches a climax that leaves one feeling very exposed indeed. The sense of uncertainty over the whole situation gives the play a creeping sense of dread that leaves you thinking about what you've read or witnessed long after you've finished. Great for any spooky festival or just plain spooky season itself!

  • Brent Alles: Nine Minute Nutcracker

10/25/24: Love the pace of this. Many funny lines, and the action just keeps building to a deliciously funny climax. (You'll see what I mean.) This would definitely be enjoyable for any holiday play festival that chooses to have it.

  • Brent Alles: What I Wanted Most

10/25/24: Heartwarming holiday tale about the wonderful nastiness inside us all. Happy Darkmas!

  • Brent Alles: Is Bigfoot on the Naughty List?

10/25/24: For too long, Bigfoot has been omitted from the traditional holiday celebration lineups. Dzubak remedies that nicely with this short and darkly funny play.

  • Brent Alles: The Gifts at Christmas

10/25/24: A very fun one act that would be a welcome addition to a holiday theater festival. Some clever turns of phrase throughout that were very enjoyable. A lot of fun for actors to portray the presents, I would think. Definitely got me in the Christmas spirit to read this!

  • Brent Alles: Comfortably Mum

10/25/24: Wish you were here to read Plumridge's very funny and occasionally moving monologue. It may have been a momentary lapse of reason by this mother to host the birthday party that's going on, but it does allow us some enjoyable moments to hear her reveal her saucerful of secrets. I won't meddle anymore with the plot but just tell you to read and enjoy this monologue. And, definitely perform it! You'll be over the dark side of the moon when you do.

  • Brent Alles: Weirdos And Don'ts (3-minute play)

10/25/24: I love the absurdity of this piece that covers some heartfelt emotion as well. One is left wondering at the meaning of it all, and I mean that in the best possible sense when it comes to this work. Weird, good bite-sized piece of theater here. DON'T pass it by!
