  • Brent Alles: Mick and Ernie go to Therapy

A tremendously smart, funny, and wicked farce. The situation is set up perfectly and the laughs come right off the bat. The twists and turns that happen along the way only heighten the overall enjoyment of the piece. Fantastic one act that I would love to see on stage!

  • Brent Alles: A Testimony from the Nokia Phone Trapped Under the Bleachers

Wonderful concept, executed quite well. The exactness of the description is wondrous at the beginning. You can SMELL this play as you read it, and I mean that in the best way possible. And you chuckle at the absurdity of a phone giving you its life story. And then... Bolduc brings out new elements that turn this right around from amusing to moving. I had no idea I would be so touched by the journey of an almost 20-year-old phone, but here we are. Bolduc reveals keen insights about humanity through the eyes of a "dead" piece of technology. Recommended!

  • Brent Alles: Is This Franks Phone?

I admire how much Plumridge is able to pack in these short little scripts. There's an effective twist at the end that changes the whole tenor of the play, which is an admirable feat.

  • Brent Alles: The Doctors Call

A good illustration of how proper bedside manner can be accomplished even in the most dire of circumstances. Again, a lot of humanity packed into this little scene.

  • Brent Alles: Eesha's Dilemma

A lovely little piece that establishes its characters quickly and makes you feel for their scenario immediately. Plumridge does an excellent job here in finding universality even in a different culture.

  • Brent Alles: Dear Bertie (A letter from a mother to her son.)

Although I am not a dad, I LOVE a good dad joke, and so I really enjoyed Christopher's sharing of his father's work. Made me smile all the way through it. That being said, it WOULD probably make a very good comedic monologue for performance in the right hands, so good on ya, "elder" Plumridge! :)

  • Brent Alles: Hearts of Brothers' Temper

An incredibly intelligent piece here, bringing to light some American history that might not be known to many. However, this is more than a history lesson; it's also a fascinating character study of brothers, politics, and the humanities amongst many other things. The allusions made throughout the play are insightful. There is a strange contemporary nature to all of this, even if that wasn't the exact intent. It does show you the power of this short piece, however, that it can conjure up such reactions and emotions as it does. Would love to see a production of this!

  • Brent Alles: The Red

A fantastic and sexy neo Gothic piece that ramps up the intrigue and tension until the catharsis that is the climax. Hoffman does an excellent job in bringing his own unique take to the original short story and creates a piece that's not afraid to keep an erotic air simmering throughout. This would definitely make an excellent addition to the right type of festival... would definitely love to see it performed at some point!

I really enjoyed the situation that Grant sets up here and the byplay between the two characters. Even though you could say this scenario is serious, the jokes here help the audience through any tension even though it definitely remains in the background. The discoveries that we make along the way through this short story are definitely interesting and hold your attention. The ending is satisfying in terms of where the playwright wanted us to go. A 10 minute with definite merit.

A very funny look at high school politics and elections. And maybe some larger-scale ramifications on the greater political problems in this country? Maybe. But let's focus on the hilarious characters here and the many funny moments and jokes that punctuate Tyler's 10-minute. This would definitely be an audience pleaser in a 10-minute festival, to be sure. Vote for this play.
