Loved this play! A great little "Twlight Zone" atmosphere and some good little Easter egg mentions here and there for the film buffs. Loved the tension that slowly develops to the climax of the piece. As a former video store employee from around this period, the piece brought me both chills from a nostalgia standpoint as well as the present terror that's suggested. "Be kind" and check out this 10-minute when you have a chance!

I definitely like the technique of going between the time periods, which helps with the overall intrigue of the story. The characters in both eras were engaging and well drawn. The work definitely has promise and would do well with theaters looking for "spooky season" subjects. :)

  • Brent Alles: Thoughts and Prayers

A powerful piece, to be sure. The technique is well suited to deliver the cold, hard facts of this situation facing our country in particular. The effect is that the piece stays with you long after it's finished, perhaps penetrating through some of the unfortunate numbness that has developed in some when it comes to this topic. The necessity of this piece is unfortunately, seemingly perpetually relevant but ultimately delivered delivered strongly by the playwright.

  • Brent Alles: She Sells Seashells

The emotion of this ten minute comes at you right away, as you can easily picture the life that came before George and Sally arrived at this point in their lives. It's a picture of dedication that's not overwrought but tender and moving as you see what the meaning of love and dedication can mean at different points in our lives. A wonderful 10-minute to read... left me thinking about it for many minutes more after I completed reading it.

  • Brent Alles: Pilloried

The interaction between the two main characters is winning, and the ribald humor comes naturally as the situation progresses. To gain a valuable lesson about life from the depth of the bowels is truly a wonder indeed from this funny and inventive 10-minute. An enjoyable read... huzzah! :)

  • Brent Alles: Grave Misunderstanding

A spooky meeting in a graveyard provides some definite mystery and enjoyment in this 10-minute with a unique voice. I enjoyed how things were slowly revealed leading up to the major revelation at the end that one might have inferred; however, the playwright still keeps you guessing in the interactions that makes it so it's not such an easy plot point to uncover. I enjoyed the read!

A very funny 10-minute. Loved the raunchiness of it, and yet the characters all seem "real" and well developed (pardon the pun). It was a hoot imagining how this would be played out on stage. I imagine it would get pretty raucous laughter from those who viewed it. I know it would from me. :)

  • Brent Alles: The Ghost Tour

Very good little ghost story! Definitely builds the tension well to the climax, which is pretty satisfying in terms of how it brings about the resolution. I got a good chill imagining the final scene on stage. Characters feel "real" and well suited to the overall environment. An enjoyable read!

  • Brent Alles: Wheel of Fortune Reversed

A wonderful little "slice of death," as it were. Who knew what started with a sly Bergman homage could end up being a moving and touching reflection on life and what may come after it. As I read through the play, I was drawn in by the conversation between the two characters to the point where all thoughts of a "gimmick" had ceased, and I waited breathlessly for what would have usually been a foregone resolution. An excellent ten minute play!
