Genevieve Blaise debuted her first play “Butelka,” about the assassination of President William McKinley, as a precocious high school senior and has been writing ever since. She was a participant in the First Light Playwriting program during her undergraduate degree and had her work produced throughout her four years at George Mason University. She journeyed into the world of directing and adaptation, falling in love with the works of Shakespeare and even more so in shaping his works to reflect a feminist perspective with theater dance company Idyll Shift. Now that she has completed her final year in NYU Steinhardt’s Educational Theatre Masters Degree Program, she is committed to bringing her fantastical, sometimes silly, usually strange works to the stage.
