  • Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos: THE ART OF MARTYRDOM (A Comedy)

Charming! Delightful! Anderson was clearly touched by the Muse herself when she wrote this full length play about the first-known woman playwright. The characters are fully formed, the story crystal clear, and the anachronistic elements seamlessly incorporated. And what a beautiful, poignant twist she gifts us with at the end. This play is a wonder. Highly recommend.

  • Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos: altitude

Altitude is a unique, full length mind bender of a play that takes us on a vision quest worthy of the Land of Oz and all the psychedelic imagery that might conjure. Once the smoke clears (hehe), we may not remember what our two friends - broke down in an Iowa cornfield - are questing for exactly but no matter. It's all about the journey (or trip rather). Trust me. Oh, and the corn? It talks. It would be a blast to see this produced using the entire theatre space. So many possibilities! Utterly crazy and I loved it.

  • Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos: Pick-and-Shovel Work

Not at all what you think but devilish all the same. Fun premise and well drawn characters. Good short for two college-aged actors.

  • Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos: Staging

I love metatheatre and this play with singing delivers. Fun concept lovers of musicals will adore. Also, if you've ever done community theatre, I think you'll know this family...

  • Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos: You Need Nutmeg in Fishkill

Martin is one of the most versatile and prolific playwrights of our day as evidenced by this “unproduceable” short. Funny, gross, dark, and poetic, the story highlights a day in the life of an average Adams-esque Family who suffer from the same struggles as you and I, but deal with them in oh so different ways. The sheer beauty of the words alone are worth reading. What a delightful play! Somebody put this on stage so we can experience the full scope of what it offers. Loved it.

  • Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos: Is a Pig's Ass Pork? (10 minute play)

"A futuristic play which is either dystopian or utopian. You must decide.”…is a description that is apt but gives nothing away. This short 7-page play teeters on the razor’s edge between darkly funny and terrifying and back again. I was initially attracted to the title, but it too is darkly funny and terrifying once you understand what it means. I felt pulled like a rubber band in numerous directions while reading it. Would love to see this daring play staged.

  • Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos: Grand Dragon in Power

In this historically-based full-length, you’re going to find some attitudes, lines, and characters that are shockingly familiar and contemporary. And therein lies Baker’s brilliance. A wonderful parallel to the current political landscape of the US. Crisp, noir-like dialogue propels this sizzling, and at times painful, courtroom drama. I particularly appreciated the flexibility of the play’s structure, working well as a radio or stage play. A fast-paced, tense page turner. Give it a read. You’re going to learn something about American history!

  • Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos: Abandon All Hope

Residing at the intersection of gay and godly, this four-person, post-death exploration takes us on the edifying journey of what we might learn about ourselves in the afterlife. Let’s just say - there’s hope in spite of the title! With a wink to Sarte’s “No Exit” and even a pinch of “The Wizard of Oz” self-discovery, these well-drawn characters rise to the occasion even with - or perhaps because of - their human flaws. I particularly appreciated the balanced structure of the play and the ample opportunities to incorporate multi-media. A solid choice for college-aged actors.

  • Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos: " ... Time's Up!" (30 minute version)

A snappy one act with an unexpected, intoxicating mix of the Gothic (insanity, decay, predatory female), noir, and comedy of menace. Deceptively minimalist in scale, its driving energy is generated by the unsettling relationship between the doctor and her patient. A relationship so cringe-worthy and wrong it’s fun. In the same way watching a house fire is fun. Disturbing, off-kilter, and laden with style, this play’s production possibilities are boundless. I would love to see it staged.

  • Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos: Heist!

This play was selected for the Snowdance 2024 season at Over Our Head Players.

While we shouldn’t condone theft, I was kind of rooting for these bumblers who had the audacity to go after the Hope Diamond. I especially enjoyed the silent, invisible Marianne, a character we never see or hear but who is fully fleshed out by our thieves mere reactions to her mute responses. I would love to see more of these two. Well done.
