  • Intrusive Thoughts and Me
    21 Apr. 2022
Yup, that's what it is like. The interplay between symptomatic thinking and actual nature is difficult to dramatize, and I believe Kyle Smith has done it well.
  • The Things You Find Out Between the First and Second Date
    23 Mar. 2022
This is an immensely endearing work with two fun parts. The relationship between mother and daughter is clearly drawn and this packs a lot of heart. The scene is meticulously balanced between the actresses, and is a characterization delight. Enjoy!
  • Save Hamlet! (a full length play)
    6 Feb. 2022
Save Hamlet! is a full-on hoot. If the enemy of Shakespeare is Bardolatry, then Hamlet is its sacred cow. Save Hamlet! makes some fun burgers from that sacred cow, poking continuous fun at archaic language, poor decision making on the part of the characters, and, GASP, details not well planned out by Shakespeare. Of particular fun is the exhortation to exit and avoid a bear. Good fun!
  • ITCH
    3 Feb. 2022
Itch is insightful and hilarious. Actors and directors will find four parts with dynamic action. The family dynamics are fully developed and the collisions between the roles are filled with life. Perfect for a company looking for a fast-paced comedy with teeth. Bravo!
  • Three Cheerleaders Cheering for the Worst Team in the History of High School Sports
    18 Nov. 2021
It's a hilarious look at those moments in life when you look around and say "why am I here," punctuated by the satirical skewering of two virtue-signalling cheerleaders.

I swear Adam Szymkowicz went back in time and spied on my High School brain (with more clarity than would have been able at that time) for the character of Peter. Bravo!
  • A Minute Past Midnight on Valentine's Day, or, the Untold Truth about Romantics [a 1-minute play]
    28 Oct. 2021
Ouch. The pathos here is biting for anyone who has ever been a secret admirer. They don't think they're stalkers, but the line between love and negative preoccupation could be troublesome to the object of their affections. This entirely relatable moment is very well crafted.
  • Arlo Whittaker and the Viola Verdict: A Live Podcast
    1 Jul. 2021
I had the good fortune to be part of a reading of this script, and it is just delightful. This is a crowd-pleasing piece that would make a bright addition to any theatre's season. It has just the right mixture of spoof and comedy, theatre-inside jokes and pacing. Both the comedic and mystery elements are dialed in and it is ready for stage, radio, or podcast.
  • How's Your Cousin [Monologue]
    26 May. 2021
He's seven, he's a horror, and he's litigious. We all have the member of the family that evinces that "geez, I don't know about..." but Rachel Aberman is not about that. This cousin is a full-on nightmare in a funny and smart monologue. I'd like to hear more, well done.
  • A Fine Romance
    14 May. 2021
It's an intensely clever piece, and any author's nightmare. The "fan" who appears incredibly interested in you, your work, and maybe more than your work, but who has an opinion on everything and knows how to fix it. The comedy is quick and reminds me of Check, Please. It would make a great addition to a short play festival.

Well, hot damn. Jonte does it again, and this piece is a wonderful celebration of sensuality. Broad of your back (Matthew is correct, go read it) and this are joined at the hip. The speaker dreams of a languid enjoyment, a need for the fulfillment of the senses and instead encounters a moron. So be it. We're gifted this love note (wow, the note in this piece) to a yearning, and it's a great one indeed.

    Time for a cold shower.
