The Workshop Theater is pleased to recognize Charles Gershman as a playwright selected out of a competitive pool of applicants for our Winter 2021 Writer’s Intensive. The Writer’s Intensive is an eight-week long, playwright-driven process geared towards revising an existing play. Happy Birthday, Jacob… engages an audience on so many levels - the family’s ease with one another is disarming and delightful, the characters are so real you feel like you know them from the first moment onstage, and the play's questioning of what “deserving” means is compelling and urgent. The Workshop Theater is pleased to recognize Jessica Durdock Moreno as a playwright selected out of a competitive pool of applicants for our Fall 2020 Writer’s Intensive. The Writer’s Intensive is an eight-week long, playwright-driven process geared towards revising an existing play. Georgie D examines the disconnect between siblings, as illuminated by the untimely death of a parent. The play beautifully elicits humor, and even absurdity, as it delicately navigates the wounded relationship between siblings who are trying to find an understanding of their childhood and why it left them so at sea. The Workshop Theater is pleased to recognize Diana Burbano as a playwright selected out of a competitive pool of applicants for our Fall 2020 Writer’s Intensive. The Writer’s Intensive is an eight-week long, playwright-driven process geared towards revising an existing play. Fabulous Monsters is a visceral exploration of the overlooked legacy of Latinas in punk rock; the play moves in bursts of energy as the scenes take on the form of punk music, while giving space to women who thrived in a male-dominated world and are now questioning their part in that movement. We were consistently struck by Isabella's almost lyrical stagecraft choices in Jawbone. Her blending of ghost stories, old radio programs, dreamscapes and fantastical imagery create a fascinating, highly atmospheric piece. Our congratulations and thanks to Isabella.

The Workshop Theater is pleased to recognize Ashley Lauren Rogers as a playwright selected out of a competitive pool of applicants for our Fall 2020 Writer’s Intensive. The Writer’s Intensive is an eight-week long, playwright-driven process geared towards revising an existing play. Ashley was clear, hard working and quick in revising her one-act, which denied audiences the easy, dumbed-down, neat version of life as a punk rock transwoman grips with loss and so many unanswered questions in favor of acceptance of the complex, bittersweet reality of parents that just didn't show up. Our congratulations and thanks to Ashley.
