I loved this play. I loved living in the world of these two sisters struggling to connect to one another and failing spectacularly. A remarkable two-hander that feels intimate and desperate in all the right ways. Gina's attention to details that fill a piece with meaning is also particularly strong. Such a wonderful and satisfying play.

Wow! Such a powerhouse of a play! Gina Femia has woven such intricate and rich details into the tapestries that are her characters. And her stage directions are so incredibly on point. THE VIOLET SISTERS is a true delight and on my directing bucket list. Someone produce it and let me be in that room!

"The Violet Sisters" is tour-de-force, intimate look into the lives of two estranged sisters forced together in the wake of tragedy. Gina Femia has expertly crafted complex characters, and does a fantastic job of portraying the relationship between two siblings. Femia does an especially excellent job in bringing attention to the impact of natural disaster that was Hurricane Sandy on the five boroughs of New York City. It is remarkable that the playwright is able to pack all of these topics seamlessly into a 90-minute play. Cannot recommend enough.

This is already highly recommended on NPX, but I have to add my voice to the chorus of people floored by this piece! The seamless, real-time drama is perfectly paced from the beginning. There is not a false note struck at all in both the dialogue and the way the revelations burst forth throughout the taut 90 minutes. I was both left in stitches with some of the priceless moments of organic humor and gutted by seeing these sisters try to navigate their complex and nuanced relationship.

Femia's incredible two-person script takes you by the throat and refuses to let go until the very last page. I would highly recommend this piece, especially as a shining example of how to write a complex relationship between two adult sisters.

When people have everything stripped away from them, what is left? A story about loss and love, and two sisters trying desperately to come together in the wake of tragedy. An excellent and touching play, with an ending that sent shivers down my spine. The dialogue and characters are so well crafted they are practically LEAPING off the stage. I highly recommend this piece.

A gorgeously written play which alternates, like the storm that precedes and prompts it, between flashes of brilliant color and torrents of darkness. Gina manages to negotiate, with Chekhovian intricacy, a relationship that is believably both intimate and estranged. I laughed on nearly every page, which is all the more remarkable since the play will break your heart with each jarring revelation - and stun you with the depth and range of its humor and its heart.

A stunning play and the fact that it's just two characters shows the extent of Femia's skills and talent as a playwright. I hope to see it produced someday.

This play packs an emotional punch. It juxtaposes the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy with sisters' complicated relationship as they deal with their father's death.

This deceptively simple play was my introduction to Gina Femia's work, and I cannot recommend it enough. It asks a lot of the two actors, in the best way -- it's funny, sad, full of fantastic reversals, with an ending that left me gutted (even though I knew what was coming!)
