Wedding day jitters serves as the backdrop for this sweet, uplifting look at love when it's still new and perfect. Though essentially a two-character monologue, both characters are so well developed, I could see them fully materialize as I read the play. Martin is so very good at crafting feel-good stories, and this short will not leave you wanting. What a lovely piece to include in a short play festival.

What a genius mind Steven G. Martin has. A gorgeous piece of writing that has cake! Louise Hay affirmations! Two enormously appealing characters well served by the playwright’s imagination and compassion.

This play is so sweet, so hysterically funny that I read it twice and intend to read it again, Pre-wedding doubts are usually about “what am I getting into?” - but Eddie’s concern is for Richard. They ARE the perfect couple.

This play is awesome! Gay, Baptist, Vegetarian! Come on!! GENIUS! Mr. Martin's characters are heart-warming, funny, relatable, and display the depth of love one can only dream of! The dialogue is sharp, witty, and perfectly captures the slippery-slope that can take one from nervous to hysterical moments before a wedding. This piece would be deliciously fun to stage. The actor playing Eddie would have a ball bringing him to life each and every night. What a delight!!

What a hilarious take on the pre-wedding jitters of one would-be spouse juxtaposed with the serene calmness of the other. Although one character does most of the manic, exhilarating talking, there is real balance in the opportunity for non-verbal responses from the other. This lovely play is even more life and love affirming than the Louise Hay quotes sprinkled throughout.

Oh my gosh, such a hilarious wedding comedy. I couldn't stop laughing. A gift to the actor and to the audience, sure to be a complete hit!

Like the gay(er) version of Not Getting Married Today, this delightful short play shows how crazy love can make us (and how important breath control is!). Eddie would obviously be a very fun role to play, but the actor who inhabits Richard has the chance to really shine in a more subtle way as well. Easy to produce and sure to be a crowd-pleaser, this is a no-brainer for any short play festival!

This play instantly sweeps us into a whirlwind of cold feet and stolen cake. Eddie’s anxiety is sympathetic — we feel for every step of his manic breakdown — and the feverish monologue that results would be a gift to any comic actor. By the end, we’re probably envious of his luck in love, and wondering what else is written on Louise Hay’s affirmation webpage.

Witty, funny, and charming. We watch Eddie's near-monologue of anxiety, self-doubt, and terror as his wedding moment approaches, while his partner watches knowingly, soaking in all of Eddie's angst and replacing it with warmth and understanding. An original piece, at time hilarious, and in the end, very touching. A great work!

Such an incredibly fun and funny and sweet and touching short play. Martin perfectly captures the manic pre-wedding jitters that can come and does so in a new and totally hilarious accessible way. The opening monologue is one of the funniest and simultaneously human I've seen in a long time. You finish this play with a smile on your face and hope in your heart.
