Recommendations of The Deal - 10 Minute Play

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Deal - 10 Minute Play

Once again, I find myself eagerly leaning forward to know the outcome of one of Ryan's plays. In this case he builds the suspense regarding the relationship between the characters brilliantly and gives us beautiful twists in the story that will keep you guessing. Its set and written perfectly as a thriller and now all that needs to be done is for someone to perform it perfectly!

  • Charles Scott Jones: The Deal - 10 Minute Play

I admire the attention to details that Ryan Kaminski puts into this short noir thriller, how the accretion of backstory and sensory data, create a languid, creepy atmosphere - as potent and thick as the extra sugar in the frozen lemonade. THE DEAL delivers with a classical 50s noir-feel. A strong female lead proves more than capable of giving the devil his due in this twisty tale.

This is an excellent script! It's also a great example of how to take a well-known story into new and exciting directions!

  • John Mabey: The Deal - 10 Minute Play

Ryan Kaminski has crafted such an engrossing tale in THE DEAL. Both characters are cleverly written and layered as revelations expose different sides of their personalities. And just when you think you know where the story is headed, it takes another thrilling turn. Very impressive and well-structured for a short play that delivers exciting surprises up until the final page.

A modern re-telling of the Faustian legend - with a twist at the end. A most enjoyable two-hander that provides performers with fine, meaty roles to interpret. Well done!

  • Daniel Prillaman: The Deal - 10 Minute Play

Kaminski's short tale is an exciting, atmospheric twist on the "deal with the devil" narrative. To say anything more would be spoiling too much, but rest assured that should you dare to partake, you will be in sure hands. The set and ambience drip "Twilight Zone" in the best of ways, but the play isn't just a carbon copy. The two characters and their histories are all their own, and would be a delight to see and/or play. This is the kind of short we sorely never see enough of.

This piece has the kind of turn I'd always hope for in the noir films I watched. It starts off fun, even normal. Eventually you sense something sinister is afoot, and you feel a bit nervous, a bit worried, and then bam the tables are turned!

Over the course of ten minutes, Kaminski takes several swerves into increasingly surprising directions, ultimately creating a twisted morality tale with a thrilling flair, in which no one is really who they seem to be, and choices lead to some unexpected outcomes. Exciting and satisfying.

The first page sets up the mystery/thriller tone with the music, dancing and costumes and it makes you want to tune in to what's the come. Love seeing a trickster tricked!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: The Deal - 10 Minute Play

A touch of a Rod Serling feel, but the twist at the end brought a nice smirk to my own face.
You can feel the heat in the air from the first line of this play. It's a charged and very well played game between the two characters, starting off pleasantly enough.
    This will leave audiences talking!
