  • Kate Danley: A Vampire's Reflection

A heartwarming tale (for those with beating hearts) about vampires, hunters, and those that help us to uncover our path. There's a lot at stake (get it?) in this undead tale, but it will leave audiences rolling in their crypts!

  • Donald Cooper: A Vampire's Reflection

A hapless novice Vampire Hunter bumbles into a Vampire’s lair late one night, is confronted by the wide-awake Vampire-- and hilarity ensues. This play portrays two lost souls engaged in a consistently entertaining verbal volley, bemoaning their existences, as each navigates their own glide path to an irrevocable destiny. The Vampire role is a delight: awash in the ennui of the Undead, self-amused, regaling us with a mix of caustic critiques of the piteous Hunter, barbed bons mots and goofy puns.

  • Rand Higbee: A Vampire's Reflection

A vampire hunter breaks into a vampire's lair to put an end to the beast. Yes, yes, you've seen it before, right? But Kyle Walker has a way of taking a familiar plot like this, turning it on its head and completely overturning your expectations. Lots of fun and lots of laughs! One of the best plays I saw at the 2025 Midwest Dramatists Conference.

  • Bill Triplett: A Vampire's Reflection

This ingenious and hilarious subversion of all the vampire cliches had the entire room laughing out loud at the 2025 Midwest Dramatists Conference where it was given a reading. But lest you think this is just a witty upending of vampire lore, coursing through the veins (sorry) of this script is also a pulsating humanity, as roles -- vampire and vampire hunter -- are slyly reversed, and emotions that are hardly undead leap out. I still hear some of the lines echoing in memory. Simple to produce, great roles!

  • Sam Heyman: A Vampire's Reflection

I love the way Kyle Walker plays with audience expectations, in many of his plays but especially in "A Vampire's Reflection." The genre savviness displayed by the play's main vamp is in service to a delicious comedic twist that is so clever, it needs to be seen to be believed. This is a hilarious take on the vampire myth that is sure to please short play festival audiences.

  • Paul Braverman: A Vampire's Reflection

Very funny play from Kyle Walker. Take all vampire tropes, add a healthy dose of real-world grounding, and put them in a blender. Walker manages to normalize vampires and vampire hunting, while still saying something about parental pressure and meeting the expectations of others, and he absolutely nails the ending. This is what it would look like if Serling wrote laugh-out-loud comedy.

From the Hammer Films atmosphere to the celebration and affectionate debunking of vampire tropes, Walker takes a hilarious sketch comedy premise about the undead and infuses it with centuries of complicated, messy life. We get to know these characters - feel lifetimes of heartbreak that led them both to this pivotal moment as we look into the voids they try to escape or embrace - all while doubling over and falling out of our chairs with laughter. This is the GALAXY QUEST of vampire plays.

  • Ward Kay: A Vampire's Reflection

I was all-in on this show by the title alone. A wonderful twist on the vampire genre. Kyle Walker has found new hilarious fodder for the tropes that have been used so often. A ten-minute play that is just right length, it doesn't need anymore.

  • Kieran Khanna: A Vampire's Reflection

I saw a reading of this play at Midwest Dramatists recently! This poor vampire hunter just wants to prove to his dad that he can do great things, but when he finds a vampire to kill, things take an unexpected turn! The characters in this play are so funny, and yet so relatable to the core! Such a brilliant piece! Awesome job Kyle!

  • Elana Gartner: A Vampire's Reflection

I saw this script performed as a reading at the Midwest Dramatists Conference. It was absolutely hysterically funny. The poor vampire hunter who is an utter failure and has been working so hard for seven years to do his first solo field work meets a sympathetic vampire willing to help out. So, so brilliant! This would be hilarious and fun to see in full production!
