Recommendations of A Vampire's Reflection

  • Michael C. O'Day: A Vampire's Reflection

If you're still looking for short horror-comedy this October, look no further than Kyle Walker's A VAMPIRE'S REFLECTION - a giddy farce about a world-weary vampire and the bumbling would-be slayer out to destroy him that doesn't miss a single comedic trick, but still has immense heart* as it ponders the burden of other's expectations, the weight of our own deeds on our souls, and the cyclical nature of existence. Masterfully done.

*Note that this may be a spoiler. Vampires, after all.

  • Marshall Logan Gibbs: A Vampire's Reflection

This two-hander KILLED at the Midwest Dramatists Conference 2025, with non-stop wit and clever subversions of vampire lore, Walker also manages to reflect resounding depth and philosophy in this short, spooky play. I highly recommend it! It certainly does NOT “suck” - pun absolutely intended.

Shades of "What We Do in the Shadows"! If you enjoy Nandor and Guillermo, you'll love this witty exploration of what it means to be the hunted and the hunter. A vampire and his hunter trade ideas about their lives, ambitions, and disappointments. In the end decisions are made that change everything for these two characters. Check out this play if you'd got a Halloween-themed program coming up-- it will be a worthy addition to the evening. Boo!
