  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Three Scenes in the Life of a Trotskyist

While I know that Andy Boyd doesn't even know me, I felt as if he wrote this play just for me. Of course it will touch and move anyone interested in 20th Century politics, Jewish intellectuals, and those of us who dream of the end of capitalism. The podcast version is very well done, but I look forward to a production with all the visuals restored in all their messiness. Arise, arise, read or listen to this play! "We have nothing to lose but our chains...

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Away From You

Tracey Knight Narang gives us characters who are so three-dimensional, I would recognize them if I ran into them. This is a family drama with so much to relate to and humor and dialogue that works on several dimensions. But mostly there is a lot of love in this play. I was drawn by the relationships, and while I am interested in plays that deal with trauma, they don't always hold my attention. The way this story develops is surprising and moving. Highly recommend!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Last Ship to Proxima Centauri

This play is a brilliant, entertaining response to the outrageous privilege and entitlement exhibited by many white Americans since the arrival of the Mayflower. This play also reminds us of our long, bloody, racist, colonizing history in an easy-to-digest way. Lam gets in so much without creating any kind of polemic. It's all so well motivated! I also loved Henry and his convictions. I hope it gets done everywhere!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: GOD AWFUL: A PLAY ABOUT JOB

With a great title and a lot of humor, this retelling of the Book of Job includes a new twist for an ending that I adored! Well done!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: THE LATEST CRAZE: FIVE ONE-MINUTE PLAYS ABOUT WORDLE

As a Wordle fan, this is wonderful. But even if you didn't love Wordle or know what Wordle is, these 5 short plays are fascinating looks at competition, obsession, passion and zeal! Ovary! (my favorite wordle word) I mean, claps!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: People Should Talk About What's Real

Hilarious and simultaneously dark and then in the last few moments, the whole world, a global frame opens up! I really love how the play is structured with the 2 couples and the grandma in the middle as a part of history, a reaction and a force. So much here to wrestle with! Great work!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: A Preface to the Alien Garden

I will never forget this play and its impact on me as a student years back. It is as fresh and relevant as ever. Robert Alexander is one of the most searingly honest playwrights I know. His work can sting, and his words can sing, and I hope we all get to see more of it!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Standing O

Yes! In only one minute, Shenoy gets us to check our assumptions again and creates a play about race that is brief enough and to the point enough to actually stick!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Ashes To Ashes

Ashes to Ashes is such a compelling play for its flawed characters in the midst of a life challenge, one of those hinge moments that will change them both - I love work like this where the exposition becomes the ammunition that moves the relationship forward. And the ending gives us a chance to experience (through unsentimentally clear language) the possibilities for these characters, their healings and ours.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: The Sentence

The Sentence is a wonderfully deep play about grief that uses puppets and meta-theatrical effects to help us all get closer to the terrifyingly enormous experience of losing a child. Seriously fabulous work!
