  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: The Helpers

Here is a fascinating drama about what Miep Gies and others have to go through to protect the Frank family during WWII, and the story of how Anne Frank's diary was saved. Resistance to popular sentiment is not easy, and this play is inspiring!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: The Dieting of Anne Frank: An Autocorrected Play

Definitely for the sick and twisted, The Dieting of Anne Frank: An Autocorrected Play is also really funny and silly and wonderfully odd. I think it is a great idea to make autocorrected plays. I think there should be an entire festival of them. An evening of classics autocorrected! Busser's mind is bursting at the seams, and I so enjoyed this!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Hate Baby

Hilarious! And if anyone is looking for a great example of what to send to PlayingonAir, this is truly it! Study how quirky and specific it is. Study the humor, what she's doing in the minds of her audience, and how she subverts subverts subverts - she is a wonderfully subversion playwright, and I adore her work for it!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: What Happened to Eddie

My son's name is Eddie so I was afraid to read this, but I'm glad I did (it doesn't mention my son at all)! FUNNY and such a great send-up. Richter has a great ability to use this genre to his advantage and his sense of humor really shows through. Quite a pleasure. Would be a hit at any festival.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: A Decameron for the Apocalypse

A fantastic play for teens with so many specifically drawn and spot on characters to give great roles to everyone involved. Strayer has crafted a story that is relevant and exciting, funny and relatable and perfect for this moment and beyond. Her use of language really gives them something to sink their teeth into, and her theatricality will be enormously fun to stage and watch. I hope it has a long life on the high school stages!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: ME DIRECT

In the time of No Theatre, when all our hearts/souls are aching for the Being in the Room time, I am glad I've come across this gem by Rachael Carnes! Of course it's hilarious in All the Times too and will be a hit with any gathering or festival including all the new forms, but the stage, the memories of the stage and how we get there... I'm dreaming of a Black Box Theatre, just like the ones I used to know... Thank you Rachael Carnes once again for your wit and your wisdom and the best lines!!!!!!!!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Five Syllables

Beautiful in the way that fables are beautiful, Five Syllables works. There is an internal logic. There is a mythic quality, something like how we become real, and such desire and wanting and honesty. I thoroughly enjoyed this short play that would work beautifully in any short play festival, and Frandsen's voice is clear and truthful. Wonderfully imagined!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Last Night in the Lincoln Hotel

A rare treat! This play gives us Billie Holiday and Artie Shaw in the flesh on stage before our eyes! Richter does a marvelous job creating this moment that changed history, and it's a dramatic edge of your seat play that really moves. The stakes are high. The dialogue sizzles. A moment in time captured for today in all its relevance and necessity. Well done!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Gratitude 4

Sherry Kramer probably still says that every play takes us closer to death, and surely that's true for Gratitude 4, a play on the word and a number. Prillaman offers us gratitude for life itself in 1 minute. Just thinking of the sound cues that this will inspire gives me joy!
