  • Shaun Leisher: PANDEMONIUM!

This is such an absurd play with so much to chew on. It is moving while also being absolutely hysterical. I loved how this play takes an incisive look at our modern internet culture. To portray this panda as an influencer was such a brilliant choice. I loved how the internet is being depicted here. I loved seeing how the world of the commenters pushed up against what is happening in Yiyi's lives. This also has so much to say about the pressures of motherhood. I can't wait to see what this would look like fully produced.

This play is great! I loved how dark things got in it. A deeply erotic horror comedy about friendship and what it means to be young and simply trying to get through life. I loved the way class is explored here. I loved the way queerness is looked at in such a frank way. All of these characters are deeply flawed and yet they all need each other in unique ways to survive. The final moment is haunting and I would love to see how a director makes that happen on stage.

  • Shaun Leisher: The Man Came Down

This is a play about how our world is a hostile place for women. A place where women are routinely kidnapped and murder and so few seem to care. This is also a place about young people trying to find their place in the world. I loved how this play could be set in the very near future or in hundreds of years from now. These are issues that will always be relevant. I loved how this play grapples with technology and the power the internet has to reach people. These are really well-written characters that will surprise you.

  • Shaun Leisher: Arms

A classic story being told here in a fresh way. We are living through a time of constant war and genocide and this play beautifully comments on just how insane and cruel it all is. I loved how this play explores the autonomy women have over their own body and what can happen when they refuse to be property of men. I loved how this play looks at how war impacts people differently based on class. How we come to resent those above us even when we have the same goals. This should be a staple for college theatre programs.

  • Shaun Leisher: Carpal Tunnel

I loved how absurd things get here and how each character has their own distinct quirks. It sets them all apart and it's what makes them such an interesting group. I loved how this play explores the different types of writers and writers of various genres view each other. I thought the monologues were so effective. Not sure what the camera they are talking to was for but I love the mystery. This play is also about how cruel we can sometimes be to our own friends. Manna means well but she does some pretty fucked up things.

I really loved this play. Tumey does an incredible job here at balancing the drama and comedy in this play. Yes we are talking about some really serious issues but without humor and silliness Tumey knows this play would be unbearable. I loved how absurd this play gets. I want to know what it would look like for these characters to actually enter from the mouth of professor. I loved how frankly these women talk about sexuality and the pressures they face as college students. PRODUCE THIS PLAY!!

  • Shaun Leisher: On God

A collection of short scenes that seem very different but reading this really makes me want to reflect on their similarities. With the exception of the first scene they definitely all have to do with death (particularly human-inflicted) and the different ways that it impacts people. They also all explore the idea of redemption and what to a human's soul when they take a life whether it be someone else's or their own. I feel the scenes also have someone that is trying to comfort someone else. A fun piece for actors for sure.

  • Shaun Leisher: Inosculation

A play that feels like a piece of pure poetry while also being really messy and gritty. The dialogue here sings and characters saying them are entrancing. This play feels like it could be set in a post-apocalyptic world but could also be happening right here and now. Yearning and fear of abandonment will never be irrelevant issues for the human race. I loved the body horror elements in this play. I can't wait to see what stage magicians will try to make the gross moments happen. This is a short play that packs a real punch.

  • Shaun Leisher: The Fish

This play is so unique. I have read plays before that look at indigenous cultures. I have read plays before that looks at Judaism. I don't think I have ever read a play that combines both traditions in such an effective way. This a post-apocalyptic play that explores creation myths and retellings of biblical stories while also serving as a reflection on climate change and humanity's role in the destruction of the planet. I loved how theatrical this play is. There are shadows and puppets. What more could you want?

  • Shaun Leisher: Easy Women Smoking Loose Cigarettes

No one in this play is perfect. Everyone has their secrets. I loved how this play explores the idea that whether the secrets are as harmless as sneaking a drink or as monumental as infidelity in a marriage they all have the power to somehow impact those we love. I also loved how this play looks at different ways people use intimacy. For some it's a way to show affection. For others it's a way to fill a selfish need. I just loved how this play explores what it means to be human with all the messiness that entails.
