  • Shaun Leisher: The Vase

The kind of conversation that happens all the time among roommates but hardly about the subject of murder. Dennis-Yates writes some great dialogue that believably comes out of the mouths of these emotionally intelligent women. Love how we really don't get an answer by the end of the play. A mystery I will just have to accept.

  • Shaun Leisher: Book Club

A tense situation that is handled with some absurd humor. I found myself laughing in a cringey way as this book club strongly disagreed. A really great short play about hot button issues and the way we perceive art in different ways.

  • Shaun Leisher: The Bed Trick

This is a fantastic play. I was amazed by the layers of trickery going on here. Very unlike any play set in college that I have ever read. Bravo to Green for tackling such a complicated and, at times, disturbing subject. The playwright perfectly blends the serious with the comedic as these characters try to trick each other in so many ways. Loved the relationship this play has with Shakespeare. I hope this gets produced all over.

  • Shaun Leisher: Hello, Earthlings!

I loved this play!! A play about community and believing in the unexplainable. I was so moved by the stories of these six people and their different relationships to the possibility of aliens. I loved the intimate moments all these characters get to have with each other. I love how they all change throughout the play. I loved seeing relationships bloom and evolve over time. The ending was incredible and I can't wait to see what a creative team can do to pull it off. Produce this play.

  • Shaun Leisher: Dead Girls Club

A play about girlhood and the dangers that inherently come with it. A great play for an ensemble of actresses to really sink their teeth into meaty roles. It was really moving to see each girl go through what happened with them and see them supported by the others. I did not see the second half of the play coming but thought it was an inspired choice. The blend of fantasy and reality was really effective as we dive into real-life tragedy.

  • Shaun Leisher: This time

I really loved this play. I loved the getting to witness the moments these women spend together. Moments when they are not serving the whims of men. Men who either see them for labor or sex. When they are together these women get to be their full complex selves. These women love each other deeply even if they can't bring themselves to tell each other how they really feel. I loved the bits of dialogue that only the audience could hear. Would love to see how an actor plays those moments.

  • Shaun Leisher: Still, Now

I adored this play. A play about the human body is both a wonder and at times a curse. Annie so badly wants to make sense out of tragedy both on the national scale and in her own life. Cancer is one evil bastard and this play only proves that more. I loved the scenes in Japan. I'd love to see this learning of Butoh live on stage someday. Loved the way that reality is played with in this play. Loved how everyone gets their own "dance." Produce this play!!

  • Shaun Leisher: Sterile Processing

A wonderful short play that captures a brief moment between two old classmates that just happen to have the opportunity to travel through time. I loved the sci-fi weirdness of this play. It's weird but still feels rooted in reality. There reasons for time-traveling feel so authentic. It makes you think what you would want to change if you had the chance to go back. Loved spending time with these characters for a little bit before they alter their lives.

  • Shaun Leisher: sleepwalkers (10-minute)

What a fun short play. Johnson does a great job showing history between characters in such a short amount of time. These characters haven't seen each other in awhile but their dialogue quickly picks up like time hasn't passed at all. This is a great piece for a short play festival or for scene study.

This play is a real mind fuck. Loved the descriptive stage directions and the use of images on the page to convey the tone of the piece. I'd love to see two actors take on this short piece. A great way to understand the importance of trusting one's scene partner. I will be thinking about this one for awhile. Great use of props.
