  • Lainie Vansant: Bless Me, Father

I saw this play produced (and developed) at the Starting Gate New Play Festival, and I enjoyed its honest take on the complex intersection of religion and LGBTQ+ issues. Both of these characters feel real and human and are sure to make actors excited to portray them. Give it a read and a production if you can!

  • Lainie Vansant: Blursed

This play is such a romp! It's a true delight, full of LGBTQ+ joy, and a great addition to any short play festival. I saw it produced and developed through Talking Horse Productions' Starting Gate Festival, and it was a joy!

  • Lainie Vansant: The Improv Class

Great characters with a great twist. Bonus for good roles for mature actors makes it an excellent little piece worth producing. I saw it at the Crossroads Theater Shed's 2020 ten minute play festival and enjoyed it!

  • Lainie Vansant: Brothers on a Hotel Bed (15 minute play)

I saw a production of this play on Zoom through the Crossroads Theatre Shed and I very much enjoyed it. The relationship between the characters is sweet, and the mystery is effective and engaging!

  • Lainie Vansant: The Last Ring

I listened to a reading of this on The Parsnip Ship, and I was thoroughly delighted by it. My director-brain was incredibly engaged with the theatricality of it, and I think it would be a really fun challenge for directors and violence designers alike. The unique structure, gorgeous characters, ridiculousness of professional wrestling (and Rogers' clear love for it) and all the warm fuzzy feelings make this a great read all around. It's sure to be a ton of fun to produce as well!

  • Lainie Vansant: Herd Immunity

A human look at a big issue that is made even bigger now - a pre-covid play that is even more relevant now. Check it out!

  • Lainie Vansant: #TEAMPUSSY

A refreshing, sex-positive look at conversations between women. This pulls no punches and validates both #TeamPussy and #TeamClit!

  • Lainie Vansant: Suburban Buffalo Sighting - Monologue

I saw a recorded performance of this through Talking Horse Productions on Facebook, and it really made me smile - and who doesn't need a good smile nowadays? It also seems like a great piece for an actor - there is a clear partner who the speaker needs something specific from, and she uses lots of interesting tactics to achieve that goal. Definitely worth a read, and a great choice for production!

  • Lainie Vansant: Forgive Me Cosmo, For I Have Sinned

I saw a recorded performance of this from Talking Horse Productions' monologue contest, and it was both hilarious and heart-wrenching. The absurdist poetry in this piece is ripe with creative opportunity and was a delight to experience! Read and produce it (and if you can track down that video, maybe watch that too)!
