  • Lainie Vansant: Are you ready to order?

I saw a recorded performance of this through Talking Horse Productions and it was delightful! There are a lot of interesting colors and moments for the actor to work with, and it tackled a tough subject in a way that is neither sticky-sweet nor melodramatic.

  • Lainie Vansant: Prometheus Shrugs

Both delightful and well-characterized, this play is fun to read but heart-wrenching as well. I saw a Zoom reading and thoroughly enjoyed it!

  • Lainie Vansant: CRABS(DOT)COM

I had the pleasure of seeing a Zoom reading of this and it was simply hilarious! Such a great time and obviously a lot of fun for the actors. Read and produce it for a well-needed break from the bad news of the day!

  • Lainie Vansant: Leap

A fascinating, imaginative look at science, imagination, and how they come about. Nicely pandemic-themed, great roles for young women, and lots of Gunderson's signature sense of humor. A really nice piece - check it out!

  • Lainie Vansant: Slow Jam

Excellent use of subtext, this is a sweet script with nice, clear goals and obstacles - just what an actor looks for in a piece of theatre.

  • Lainie Vansant: Bottom of the Order

This is a beautiful example of subtext and letting the audience figure out the situation as the play progresses, without answering all of the play's questions either. It feels realistic, honest, and heartbreaking. Give it a read and enjoy Daly's artistry!

  • Lainie Vansant: Predictor

A fascinating story about a historical figure I had never heard of before - I learned a lot reading this, and the theatricality is exciting for the director in me as well!

  • Lainie Vansant: Emily Driver's Great Race Through Time and Space

If nothing else, you should read this play for an example of how to do accessibility right - I noticed a lot of strategies that I hadn't thought about as a theatre-maker, but that could certainly be used and incorporated into my future work. On top of that, it's an exciting piece of TYA that is sure to inspire, educate, and excite kids, not to mention giving them the opportunity to see a cast with a wide variety of abilities. It's a real romp, a pleasure to read, and I'm sure a ton of fun to produce.

  • Lainie Vansant: Legacy of Light

A beautiful, dreamlike piece about women in STEM, parenting, and leaving a legacy (naturally). Great roles and great space for directoral and designer creativity. Read and produce it!

  • Lainie Vansant: City of Miracles and Wonders, First play of Madre de Israel Cycle

This is a sweet piece based on a fascinating little-known moment in history. It has lots of great roles for young women, making it a great choice for schools. It has lots of heart and a story that should be told!
