  • Lainie Vansant: WINDBERRY CREEK

Carnes really excels at writing generations of interesting women, leading to great roles for actors of all types in her scripts, and this play is no exception. Community theatres looking to give actresses great roles with achievable production elements should definitely check this play out, but it deserves higher-budget productions just as much! Give it a read!

  • Lainie Vansant: Counting in Sha'ab

This play is a fascinating slice of life from lives very different from the one I lead and it is heart-wrenching to see people trying to go grocery shopping, raise children, and run their business in the midst of bombings and terror. I listened to this on Playing On Air, and I'm very grateful to them and to Goldman-Sherman for sharing these lives with me.

  • Lainie Vansant: Drunk Christmas: A Ten-Minute Play

I listened to this play on Playing On Air, and it touched my heart here in the middle of the Christmas season. The characters feel very real and the connection that McLindon illustrates between them is touching. A great piece for two women, one of whom is an older actress, perfect for ten minute play series in community or professional theatres.

So funny. I'm dying. I listened to this play on Playing On Air, and it made me laugh out loud - and thoroughly confuse my boyfriend, who could not hear what was going on in my headphones. It's a great listen and I'm sure it would be an incredibly fun production. Check it out!

Such a fun, 'impossible to stage' play. I listened to this play on The Parsnip Ship and thoroughly enjoyed the adventure!

  • Lainie Vansant: How My Grandparents Fell in Love

I listened to a radio drama production of this play on Playing On Air, and it was really fun! Though the time period and actual history is very sad and dark, Gitter's choices and modernized language show a sweet, happy moment in time, made more poignant by the darkness looming over these characters. These characters would be great fun for actors - they're funny and feisty and generally a great time. Give it a read, a listen, or a production!

  • Lainie Vansant: A Very Very Short Play

I listened to this play on Playing On Air, and found it utterly delightful. The imaginative, "impossible" staging brings out the magic of love and live theatre, and the heightened language of the play highlights that feeling as well. Read it, and produce it if you dare!

  • Lainie Vansant: LAST TRAIN TO NIBROC

I listened to a radio production of the first part of this play on Playing On Air, and it was delightful. I love the specificity of place and time in the play, and the characters' pain and struggles feel very real. It's a great script - give it a read or a listen!

  • Lainie Vansant: Bless Me, Father

I saw this play produced (and developed) at the Starting Gate New Play Festival, and I enjoyed its honest take on the complex intersection of religion and LGBTQ+ issues. Both of these characters feel real and human and are sure to make actors excited to portray them. Give it a read and a production if you can!

  • Lainie Vansant: Blursed

This play is such a romp! It's a true delight, full of LGBTQ+ joy, and a great addition to any short play festival. I saw it produced and developed through Talking Horse Productions' Starting Gate Festival, and it was a joy!
