  • One of the greatest strengths of Martin’s brilliant “Ice Cream Stool Pigeon” is that it uses the familiarity of cop-interrogation frameworks as the comedic engine but amplifies that humor as it’s filtered through the insanity of one devious…villainous…bowl of vanilla ice cream. What a great visual! There’s so much whimsy and imagination built into this play, any audience would be in for quite the sweet treat.

  • To put it simply, this play rules. Heyman delivers a harrowing showcase of how friendship and love can be manipulated and weaponized by emotionless hierarchies, and how in attempting to protect those we love, we can easily suture ourselves to dilemmas that force us to literally confront the sacrifices that come with heroism and responsibility. Fascinating stuff!

  • The old soul’d Sam dominates this script - Moughon has imbued so much life into the characters of this short play that their dynamic feels wonderfully specific and lived-in. Due to that fact, the play’s final reveal lands so satisfyingly from a horror perspective and it also cuts emotionally further than you may initially expect!

  • I love stories where one, seemingly small, but still morally incorrect action festers and festers until it metastasizes into an inescapable reality for the character. Dellagiarino Feriend does a great job of using the heightened premise (winning a moon-trip from the back of cereal box - c'mon, so fun) to externalize how you can’t resolve a lie by continuing it.

  • A super endearing play about identity and vulnerability. Sofia and Alex’s dynamic is particularly touching - just super authentic and brimming with optimism. Really enjoyed this. Read it, produce it, repeat!

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: Bees

Kantor writes her characters with such emotional precision that you end up marveling at the various ways in which tenderness continues to persist in two characters who, seemingly, don’t have much common ground. BEES is a super compelling piece about the fear of vulnerability in a changing world - I’ll definitely be revisiting this one for a deeper read!

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: A Daffodilly-Ding-Dong

Purpose, individualism, and community all explored very creatively through flowers. Plumridge does a fantastic job creating a narrative that is thought-provoking, entertaining, and assuredly palatable for younger audiences. Plus, giant lively daffodils musing around on stage - who doesn't want to see that?

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: THE RITUAL (ten minute play)

Meek-mannered but devious schoolchildren summoning Lovecraftian horrors? Their teachers approaching the ensuing eldritch chaos like it's just another bureaucratic road bump? Yeah, sign me up - this absolutely rules and I love Bolduc's descriptive, bizarre, and brilliant dialogue. Worth a read for the potato monstrosity alone...

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: CUBIST RODEO CLOWNING

I really enjoyed this play's dialogue - it all comes together very magically, like the words are holding hands, spinning around, and performing a little jig. Of course, for all the fun that can be extrapolated here, there's also an introspective sadness imbued within about desire - a fun and fascinating read!

  • Ryan M. Bultrowicz: The Ergonomic Perfection of the Rotary Phone

Through raw and authentic dialogue, Brian James Polak explores the complexities of dealing with mental illness and the strain it can place on family dynamics. Cary and Bree engage with each other in such a tender but also painful way - reflecting their individual fears and desires about the situation.
