  • A Conversation Between Deer and Headlights
    25 May. 2023
Societal power dynamics and victimhood explored through cleverly anthropomorphized characters. Authentic, unsettling, and a reminder of real-world injustices and imbalances that plague our society.
  • Don't Let Them See You
    22 May. 2023
A touching piece that skillfully navigates through stereotypes, systemic oppression, and internalized expectations. This is a great example of an authentic commentary on assimilation and the loss of cultural identity.

Malakhow's dialogue is absolutely brilliant - I was so consistently endeared and entertained during my read. The three characters driving this story are so compelling and authentic you start to feel as if you really know them. Lots of humorous moments (still laughing about a Chris Evans joke in here) balanced well with the more poignant revelations embedded into this script, I highly recommend checking this out.

The insightful genius of Emma Goldman-Sherman is on full display here, as they carefully navigate the complexities of various issues society is in conversation with - such as gender and sexuality. A wonderful play that, ultimately, highlights the corrosive impact patriarchal norms have on individual's lives. I also love the style in which this is written, I hope to see it produced one day! In the meantime, give this a read!

An endlessly satisfying ping-pong of dialogue that lures you in with its mystifying energy and then guides you out - leaving you alone to ponder our fleeting time here and what's important within it.

The trials and tribulations of twin sisterhood - with some unexpected surprises! The clever banter and physical comedy woven into this play is sure to provide a memorable and vibrant experience for the audience and production team alike. I know I want to see it!

A wonderfully rhythmic and fun script! Peppered with poetic musings on the nature of life and the possibility of a brighter future amidst chaos, the most endearing thing about this script is the emphasis on human connection.

Blevins, in an incredibly engaging way, brilliantly highlights the complexities and challenges that are intertwined with identity. Tension, suspense, introspection, immersive dialogue - I'm enamored by the way this piece is designed to stay with you. Oh, how I'd love to see a live version of this one!
  • Satan At Walmart (A Ten-Minute Play)
    20 Apr. 2023
The theatrical equivalent of striking gold. I was immediately drawn in by Tami and Bucky's dynamic, but adding Satan into the mix truly elevates things in a hilariously creative way. Some playful banter, some genuine connection, some sinister chords playing - what more could you want in a ten-minute play?

A splash of power politics reflected through a high school improv troupe and a splash of pure, unprepared (wink, wink, nudge, nudge), fun! There are plays where you can tell that the playwright had a great time writing it, the actors are going to have a great time performing it, and the audience is going to have a great time watching it - this is a quintessential example.

Also, as somebody whose theatrical foundation was doing improv in high school, I always love seeing improv make its way into plays!
