  • Susan Middaugh: Mistress Marlene

Hammond takes a mundane situation and transforms it into a situation that is surprising, fun and most women's secret wish -- ordering a man around -- with his encouragement. Brava!

  • Susan Middaugh: SUGAR PIE

Great down home dialect. Lermond has a good ear for dialogue which crackles with realism. She offers a sense of hope and a way forward for two lonely folks who have some love scars. Thank you, Vivian.

  • Susan Middaugh: Here Comes the Monster With Many Heads

A wonderfully irreverent short play about a Mum with an acid tongue and no filters who insists her young daughter meet Santa Claus when she doesn't want to. Turns the Christmas myth on its head. Thank you Paul, great fun.

  • Susan Middaugh: The First Co-Author (10 Minute Play)

A fun play about a PhD student agonizing over who gets top authorship on a paper that could advance one of the contributors' careers. She gets conflicting advice from a variety of famous women, past and present, who press her to see things from their individual point of view. In other words, they're not helping. What will she finally decide?

  • Susan Middaugh: Birdseed

Who would have thought that a bag of birdseed plunked down at just the right moment could signify forgiveness between a man and his future husband? I can understand why John Mabey won the Audience Favorite Award during the JL Smith New Play Festival?

  • Susan Middaugh: The Flower Stand

Eliza makes up stories about her regular regular customer -- stories that rely on her assumptions which are erroneous. Although she hasn't studied psychology, philosophy or sociology, she's sure she's right. Not! Very insightful, Robert Cooperman, a lesson for us all. Good job!

  • Susan Middaugh: LEGACIES OF WAR

If it isn't enough to suffer the slings and arrows of Agent Orange, this Vietnam Vet, now in an assisted living facility, comes face to face with behavior from his past that won't let him rest and may explain his irascibility. John Kelly shows the devastation, ambiguity and guilt that persist in his character's mind long after the incident which occurred decades earlier in Cambodia. Can he forgive himself? Well done.

  • Susan Middaugh: WHORTICULTURE

This is a difficult play to watch and I believe an even more difficult play to write. Brava, Emma, for introducing us to these young women who have been hurt by incest and then bring pain and domination to each other. i saw a recent performance by Quarantine Players, well done, all.

  • Susan Middaugh: Cheese Sauce (A Monologue)

A funny monologue by an experienced and unsuccessful dater who is skeptical about the claims of dating apps. I envision an actor proceeding at breakneck speed and with high anxiety confessing to a wide variety of flaws that will go undiscovered in the 12 minutes allotted to finding the ideal mate. Cora is smart to recommend this monologue could be recited by anyone -- male or female, a senior citizen or twentysomething and those in between. Thank you, Cora.

  • Susan Middaugh: ME DIRECT

Big Foot has drafted two articulate forest friends to rehearse in his play, but the actors want to take a break against his will. Very funny and clever. Loved this line spoken by the rabbit: "Why did I let myself get sucked into another community theatre production?" Thank you, Rachel.
