  • Emily Hageman: Alien Lovers and Friends

A fantastically weird one-act with a killer ending. Lawing has done it again--this play is funny, snaps with unique dialogue and enjoyable characters, and is all set with a phenomenally original plot that audience members would eat up. There is such a wonderful underlying sense of warmth in this play--and it will leave audience members smiling and chuckling and likely discussing it long after its performance.

  • Emily Hageman: The Chorus Awaits Its Cue!

Delightfully meta and self-aware, Lawing has created a play for three actors that's as funny as it is surprisingly profound. The dialogue sparkles with humor and wit, but there is something gentle and warm about this play--just as there is in all of Lawing's work. This is more than just a platitude on a yogurt lid--this is a deeply thoughtful play wrapped up in a deliciously funny and fresh premise.

  • Emily Hageman: Most Wonderful

Such a wonderful play. There is so much warmth and history between two extremely funny characters. I just adore the way that O'Grady writes--there is so much tenderness, humor, and truth in this play. Her characters and plays never cease to make me feel comforted and safe--and this play is sure to warm anyone's heart on a cold wintery evening. The play ends with everyone knowing these two people intimately--and they are all the better for it. Merry Christmas indeed.

  • Emily Hageman: Caleb and Rita

I love this play. So much, so so so much. It's briliantly funny and lively and such a marvelous depiction of what it's like to date in this current day and age. Two actors would have an absolute ball with this gem of a wildly clever script. This will be an audience favorite--and I personally would love playing Terri. I also love how this play is incredibly romantic without being over-the-top or typical--there is such warmth and tenderness in the ordinary. Phenomenal play.

  • Emily Hageman: The Tragedie of Rockford and Almira and the Cat - a Comedie

This may be my favorite of all Matthew Weaver plays (and that's saying something, considering I'm one of his biggest fans). Not just laughs on every page, but laughs on every LINE. Absolutely brilliant, clever, funny--I had an ear-to-ear grin on my face as I read this play. A true joy and delight for audience, director, actor--EVERYONE. I predict this play will be produced widely, and will become a darling of ten minute play festivals. Weaver's charm, playfulness, and positivity make his plays as wonderful as they are. I'm such a big fan.

  • Emily Hageman: The Great Gaffe

This play is absolute sheer delight. I adore O'Grady's passion for historical moments--she brings them to life with such color, honesty, and vividness. Edith Wharton is phenomenal--a dream role for an older actress--and it's such a delight to see the smarty F. Scott Fitzgerald get put in his place. A tremendous ten-minute play that does the genre right. O'Grady writes with a deft hand, precision, and poetic grace--and she's also dryly funny at that. Well done. I have a feeling Edith Wharton would love this play (maybe not Fitzgerald though).

  • Emily Hageman: Earth like Crown Upon Your Head

Absolutely lush and lovely with the most gorgeous dialogue. Michele spin a beautiful tale with three generations of women speaking from different perspectives. I love the lack of exposition, leaving the audience to wonder what exactly this world is--but the truth is universal. We live in stages, and each stage is important in itself--it must be lived and experienced or we will never reach the next stage of our life. There is a strange mystery, but a rooted beauty to this play.

  • Emily Hageman: A Murder of Crows

A wonderful play for older actors. Lawing has truly mastered the art of telling stories gently and sweetly, but with such tremendous compassion and empathy. We love the characters that we meet in his plays because we recognize their spirits that inhabit the best people we know. "A Murder of Crows" is tender and beautiful and aching, but Lawing doesn't linger on the pain--he reminds me, as he is so good at doing, that there is beauty in every moment.

  • Emily Hageman: F4

A truly, deeply, wonderful remarkable play. I am so touched by this phenomenal two-hander. Really, about one of the most perfect ones I've ever read. There is so much character in both of these people--it seems wrong to write the word character because they are so REAL. There is something so deeply profound about the ending, something incredibly beautiful and sad and broken. This play is going to stay with me--and it's a phenomenal study in how to say a great deal without saying much at all. Beautiful, phenomenal. I'll be reading more of Hampton's work.

  • Emily Hageman: Family Planning

I'm absolutely, completely, totally devastated and winded by this remarkable ten minute play. This is the very definition of tragedy. A young woman who isn't allowed to be young any more, who has to grow up so painfully fast because our men are being actively encouraged to be their worst selves. There is so much aching, tender dialogue here. I am moved and I am broken and I am convicted. Thank you for writing this play, Minigan. It's a delicate, mournful whisper of a play that I hope reaches closed off ears around our country.
