  • Final Boarding Call
    28 Sep. 2020
I had the pleasure of seeing this play during the 2020 BAPF. Before hand, I felt like I had only a cursory understanding of the conflict of Hong Kong. Not only did FINAL BOARDING CALL educate me, but it also functioned as a brilliant piece of theatre- making me laugh, cry, and contemplate my own rights and privileges. I would absolutely love to see a full production of this play.
  • Babes in Ho-lland
    2 Sep. 2020
I had the pleasure of seeing the virtual reading of BABES IN HO-LLAND at the 2020 BAPF and I cannot recommend it highly enough. This play both managed to make me laugh out loud and bring me to tears. And the central relationship between Ciara and Taryn is so beautifully rendered. I sincerely hope this play receives a full production, I would absolutely love to see it.
  • First Born
    30 Aug. 2020
FIRST BORN is a brilliant play. Not only is it hilarious, I felt Miriam's dilemma on a deeply personal level. I would absolutely love to see a full production of this play.
  • DERECHO
    26 Aug. 2020
I had the pleasure of seeing DERECHO at the 2020 BAPF. Noelle has created nuanced characters who are able to talk about complex issues without ever feeling didactic. This is exactly the kind of theatre I love to see: thought provoking, emotionally wrenching, and plenty humorous. I hope that this play receives a full production soon- I would love to see it.
  • Welcome to Matteson!
    16 Jun. 2020
Not only is the imagery in this play is absolutely breath taking, but it is populated with characters who feel real, they are like-able yet flawed. This is a purely theatrical play that demands to be seen on stage. I can't believe that it is currently un-produced. I sincerely hope that a theatre near me decides to produce it, because I would truly love to see these words come to life on stage.
  • Teen Dad
    10 Jun. 2020
TEEN DAD oscillates between hilarious and heart-wrenching and is sometimes both at the same time. In this play I felt my family represented on stage, but even if you're not mul-tee-racial or the child of teen parents, this play is worth reading and seeing because you can't help but root for these flawed yet lovable characters. I sincerely hope that I have the opportunity to see a full production of this play soon. Every theatre should consider producing it in their upcoming season.
  • Rights Restored (a monologue)
    6 Jun. 2020
I had the chance to see this monologue performed at Ohio University and it blew me away. "Rights Restored" employs Olivia Matthews' patent humor to tell a story that is full of heart. I hope that this monologue gets performed all around the country, especially as we move into election season.
  • Hashtag Jones (short)
    3 Jun. 2020
Every theatre in America should be reading this play right now and producing it. It's poignant and unfortunately very timely. I hope to see a production of it very soon.
  • Survival Strategy
    28 Apr. 2020
It´s hard to not feel the longing for physical touching so acutely in this time of social isolation. I would recommend "Survival Strategy" being featured in a short play festival while we are all self-quarantining and again after we hopefully emerge and go back to working in offices again- it is that universal.
  • Magic Benji
    27 Apr. 2020
Hendel has a wonderful ability to combine the heartfelt with the hilarious and MAGIC BENJI is no exception. Hendel creates an imaginative world with unforgettable characters that kept me leaning in. All the while the play deals with the question of how we handle childhood trauma and who should be held responsible.
