Relevance is such a big word and the debate of who is and not relevant would vary greatly in our world of billions. This play gives us that question front and center and the characters all jump through their necessary hoops, and be it "being let go too soon from your job" or "being a world-class mothering type", in the end, it is so important to allow each and every one of us to own up to our relevance but also allow us time to reassess that and shift gears if necessary.

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Bear- The Bear with the Golden Fur

Endings are always so hard and if it's the ending of a literary character even more so. What? No more adventures of the Vampire Bear and all of his friends and enemies? I'll hold my breath for his return at some point and just like the bear and everything he's experienced in this world, its' only made me a happier person to follow along and that alone is one reason these stories are a classic.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Rewind

This is the kind of purgatory I want to be sent to. Rewind sets you up and you are pulled in immediately with plenty of jokes but also a lot of fear that you feel from Charlie as he comes to realize that he's not where he should be and time is playing a very bad case of deja vu.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Fake News?

Brilliant short play about outraged aliens witnessing the news from America about the end of Roe vs. Wade and the shock they are experiencing about such barbarism that is allowed to continue against the women population on earth still. Please invade! End the madness.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Responsible Adult

We all have these set ideas of what is responsible and also how one should behave responsibly at any given age and one of those is older equals wiser but only if older looks a certain way or behaves a certain way. Responsible Adult shows a funny punk take on Mame with the delightful and very real Meredith--sorry, Merry who has found a new life at church none the less. I'd vote to stay at her house for any sleep-over.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Backyard Stonehenge, Reclaimed

There comes that point in life where we know that as we get older we may loose some of the capabilities to take care of ourself the way we need to be taken care of and MRS. FERRIA is at that point in her life where her nephew realizes this a little more than she does. Losing that independence has go to be one of the most frightening situations in our life where we don't want to become just a part of the old people zoo and this play shines a black light on that very real fear.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Backyard Stonehenge

There is a definite hint of sadness that prevails throughout this beautiful ode to being in a relationship with someone who is battling their own demons while you can only look on and hope that at some point that person finds the right footing to move toward a brighter light than they are in. Alcoholism is such a devastating burden for the drinker and those who love the drinker. Gentleness, like this beautiful play is , sometimes is the best course of action for all involved.

  • Lee R. Lawing: How About Them Dodgers

A funny and oh frightening satire about what our future could be like if we just become passive about all the going-ons in each and every state where those in power are trying to erase those that are not by making them less than they are and stripping away each and every human who isn't towing the the hetero-cismale line of conformity.

  • Lee R. Lawing: "DISH BITCH": A MONOLOGUE

Whatever the subject, whatever the voice, Asher can get into it like no other writer can and present us with a full-fleshed person that most of us didn't realize we needed to know but are all the more wiser for having done so to see those on the so-called fringe who need the voice that that Asher gives them! This was my featured play of the day and always a joy to read those when they are by someone I know and whose work I admire.
